XO: Nothing sir!

Captain: Bloody strange. They MUST be near. I wonder if it is a Shinto holiday or something. Somebody find out.....

OK, I found it in the rule book, (54) XII/A/2

"The worst combat odds you can get are 1 to infinity. This is seriously ****ty and you would be well advised not to try unless you have some crappy little understrength reserve unit that you don't need and are trying to use the "reccon by suicide attack" exploit. In that case, the AI will virtually roll two Rhombicosidodecahedra. If you are lucky enough to get double 64, ("hyper-boxcars") the defending units will be eliminated. I know this sounds really good but quite likely your opponent will throw a tantrum at the "unhistorical" result and will pout for weeks and might even quit."

1/ In what dimension was that rule book written? In the same dimension where you have read the manual?
2/ I believe that if "hyper-boxcars" is rolled all Mae Wests are immediately transformed into the real Mae West as well.

Yes, but in this case I would suggest a weak attractive force has created a strong attractive force.

Well, she was about 33....and, if I recall that is some kind of flimsy nightgown......and you must remember this was before Dow Corning defied gravity. Bloody impressive if you ask me.

My question is how many rolls of cheese did the photographer have to unwrap for that shot?

Oh, the photographer didn't need any rolls of cheese -- Jack Lemmon was cheesy enough in that scene to fill all needs!

Simon, are you the weak attractive force that is attracted to the strong attractive force?

Bizarrely after yesterday's carnage none of JJs carriers seemd to launch today. The convoy scatters wider...

I assume they are consuming vast quantities of liquids in order to empty the bottles that will be necessary for sending those estate documents out.

***********July 23, 1942***********

South Pac: Troopships coming back to Suva today but this time they will rendezvous with a 2 CA security force. Jap cruisers off Tanna again. Bombardment and air attacks gaining traction at Nadi. The slow decline of the Shinto boys begins.

Indian Ocean/Oz: Two more burning AK's sunk today but the LYB carriers are not to be seen. They are probably retiring but Rord Admirar David-san routinely does the old jimmy-leg move then returns one or two days later. There are ELEVEN units at Port Headland! I think it will take more than a brigade to take it.

14 Kt USN AP's headed South from Pearl. Renown has arrived at Wellington and will head over with the carriers and USN BB's. Lots of preparation to do. Engineers leaving San Diego by the boatload.

So I took Stalker Girl to Vegas for her birthday and we are staying at the Venetian. We head out to dinner at this steakhouse/bistro place. There are two really good looking receptionists...which means it is going to be expensive but I already knew that. When we sit down the prices on the entrees shocked us both a bit. The steaks are 60-110$ ...and that is just for the steak.

There is no wine under $60. Meanwhile I am already plotting a strategy...the Halibut is $33...a STEAL and they have a really great selection of beers. Anyway, I have adapted quickly but Stalker Girl just freezes. Her brain just stopped. I finally had to take control and just order two Halibut meals and some sides and some crab salad. It was REALLY good.

I dont have money coming out of my @ss like you, dear Doctor, but I found the Mon Ami Gabi place at Paris to be quite good and not very expensive.

Yes, that is exactly the point. One expects to do some penance when the gift is the trip and the night out. It has to be cloth tablecloth and napkins and one wants the guy with the scraper thingy to come around and scoop up the bread crumbs.

It was just more pennance than I anticipated. It wasn't a disaster. With the 20% bill to room discount we got out of there with $150 including the tip and that is with 3 courses including dessert, amaretto and espresso.

Plus I won about $400 playing craps and blackjack*

Yes it is. That is why you can't get greedy and push your bet up too much when the deck is good because most dealers will shuffle. And you have to be picky about how many spots are taken. Annoying, really, not like the old days.

Personally, I like the new days better than the old days at Vegas. Old days consisted of me generally being too intoxicated to bet wisely.

Ah the good old days. I remember hearing a story about some guy who got stabbed in the parking lot for hitting on 16 and busting when the card would have given the next guy over a 21.
