So you press the Print Screen button to get a screenshot from the game, but all you get are horrible scrambled colors.

Well there is actualy a build-in fix for this too in Windows.
You can download the registry patches here:

Note that in the readme they talk about the game "Knights and Merchants", but it will work with any other old DirectDraw game like SPWaW too.

If the link does not work or you want to know what the registry patch changes here is the output in plain text:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\DirectDraw]
"EnablePrintScreen"=dword:00000001

So it just adds the option EbablePrintScreen in your DirectDraw registry path.

So after enabling the patch you should be able to take a screenshot from SPWAW without the need for a separate screenshot capture program.
