Now i am really confused....what happened to the war?

If Mothra is buzzing Sara in Washington, then i figure it must have gone bad somewhere. I need to re-read the last few pages.

I've just finished it. An excellent read. Funny, poignant and opinionated.

From the author of the Flashman novels? I have to get that...

Yes, but I have to warn you a lot of it's written in the Cumbrian dialect and might be hard for non-English speakers to read.

Ah, Admiral Lord Sprior is back and I didn't get the King's battlewagons sunk. Splendid!

Even better it seems he was neither imprisoned or keel-hauled for getting all those AK's sunk in the Indian Ocean! Apparently, the Admiralty still looks favorably at that wonderful battle of Port Headland some time ago. Huzzah!

I am ashamed to admit it but I never heard of Cumbria. I have two questions. Is it near Umbria and do they paint themselves blue?

Cumbria is that area of England to the north-west aka the Lake District.

I blamed the yanks.

Anyway spent an enjoyable time at Chequers with Winnie, a few glasses of the old red biddy, port and cigars. Good news - Spits are on the way!

Also briefed him on Operation Stoat/Otter/Weasel which is now Operation SOW.

I just realized I should have said "neither imprisoned nor keel-hauled"...I think.

Ah, well, glad to hear you got along well with the PM. Did you make any progress on their incessant calls for sending things back?

While you were at Chequers I:

1) Started some of the Asiatic Fleet flagged naval support troops toward Perth. They had little to do at Alice.

2) I started a construction regiment at Alice toward Geraldton to help get the airfield there ready for heavies.

3) Some xAP's arrived at Perth from NZ and I started them on installing new AA guns. They will be ready in 20-21 days. I hope you weren't pushing off before then.

4) I couldn't fly the recon P-38's from NZ so I crated them up and sent them toward Melbourne.

5) I started getting the repaired aircraft out of Daly and Tennant as supply is in the crapper. Daly is actually at zero and most of the units are red. I am not sure what happened. Road gremlins, I suspect. Maybe the Abos are stealing the stuff?

6) I tried to send the Wellingtons to raid Mandalay which has no fighters. They refused orders so I cancelled it and sent some Parchisi sets for morale boosting.

7) I put some Catalinas at Addu and Diego and backfilled with some Hudsons from India to Ceylon.

8) Sent a volunteer minesweeper to the Java/Oz gap and a PG south of Ceylon for picket duty.

9) More AP's headed Perth

I also started a base force toward Tsuyung so those pesky WJD fly boys don't think they can use the place for target practice (yes, I know I need fighters too but BF force first - it's just good manners).

I like Cumbria. I like Umbria too but there is a distinct lack of mint cake so Cumbria wins.

People claim it was the old Laudanum that 'influenced' the Lakeland poets but I think it was a good, hearty dose of Kendal mint cake. I bet Coleridge had munched about 10 bars when he wrote 'Kubla Khan.' All that sugar must do do something funny to you.

That, sir, is a low and disgusting stereotype! There are plenty of good looking women in Ukraine.

They just havent figured out how to leave yet.

I totally agree with the Red mouse. Low and disgusting! There are plenty of good looking women in the Ukraine. I've seen them in issues of Special Order Ukraine Bride monthly.
