Is there any way to edit the replacement rates for planes? It seems like the editor allows you to change almost anything but them. (obviously, I could be overlooking something in the editor - if I have please let me know how to find it).

isn't altering the replacement rate cheating ? it might fit your idea of best scenario ..but it's still swinging the balance .. try pyaying the pro jap sc19 :)

but always have fun

The editor does not allow changing the replacement rates. The editor released with UV was intended to provide some tweaking opportunities but was released unsupported as there was not enough development time to create a full-featured editor that would not cause other issues with modifications to the base scenarios and game data. Striking a balance between security against cheating issues and still giving players a tool to mess around with, we arrived at the current editor. Searching through previous posts, you'll find that while it's not ideal, it is capable of creating variants and other adjustments, particularly with "safe" scenarios like #17.

Regards,

- Erik

Erik - I think UV is a great game. The editor is very easy to use and offers much. My question related to that fact that I liked that in PW, you could increase replacement rates as a way to help the AI. I appreciate your answer.

In terms of helping the AI, I don't like the Sid Mier's approach of skewing the combat results to favor the AI or making the AI's intelligence too ominipotent (recognizing that it needs some to be compentent) - I like giving the AI more resources and then achieving good kill/ratios against them (just my preference). Editing replacement rates also gives a player a chance to see how the hypthetical earlier introduction of technology might have changed the war.

Matrix has done a marvelous job in regards to the strategic questions/challenges that the game offers players. It's one of the very very few games for which I ponder about strategies while I'm not playing the game. .....dtx

dtx,

Thanks for your comments. If you want a challenge as the allies, try Scenario 19 with Japanese commitment level set to 200%. That should give you a run for your money, even against the AI. As long as you keep the AI set to Historical difficulty, there's no cheating involved.

Regards,

- Erik

A question: Does aircraft generation rate have anything to do with pilot generation rate? Is one pilot generated every time a plane is produced?

Dose Commitment level effect aircraft replacemnt rate, or is it just for how fast units / ships are released for use?
