I made a huge Soviet pocket of about 20 units around Odessa, and the following turn all but the x3 in Odessa was evacuated! A smaller event took place several turns later when I trapped a few units on the Sea of Avaz (sp). The new pride of the the Soviet military - the Black Sea Fleet!

Pls see this thread http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=2768211 - AI doesn't follow the rules that a human has to in order to make up for it's tiny brain :)

In real history, "Primorskaya Armiya" evacuated from Odessa pocket to crimea without any disturbances.
Black Sea Fleet surpassed all that axic could muster, only Richthofen Air Corps brought it to the end.

I'm playing Germany vs AI.

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind terribly since this is my first GC and I'm just learning the ropes, trying a new strategy, and having major fun. It just surprised me that the AI was capable of pulling about 15 units off the line (in a pocket) and shipping them elsewhere in one GT. My hapless Romanians amusingly watching. I get the feeling their hearts weren't into liquidating that pocket anyway.

Next time, I'm going to put my air units on "Naval Interdiction" and nip this evac thing in the bud. Oops - wrong game - was thinking of WiTP, sorry .
