I just bought the ROTS expansion and noticed when starting a new game there was a option to include the original DW and ROTS story lines. I enabled just ROTS but unchecked the original DW story... so does this mean there is no world destroyer artifact out there? When do the Shakturi show up?

Playing without the DW storyline but with the ROTS storyline is more difficult, in my opinion. Many of the DW storyline elements will help you deal with the Shakturi. They will still arrive with just the ROTS storyline, but you will likely be less prepared. Consider it a replay of the first war against the Shakturi.
