How long do you have to wait for the AI to finish the turn when the AI is on the attack? I find that at message level 3 and with very short delay settings and still being able to read the reports the AI can take up to like approx 30 minutes... And sometimes I speed the process up by exiting out of the various screens considerably so

And no I don't have a slow PC or anything like that...

Not really complaining as long as the AI acts decent/accordingly, however it does seem a bit on the long side? Now I suppose if there were war movies/footage and popcorn going on in between that would be cool as I play with both FOG on

I find that with a very fast PC and messages set to 1, it can often take over thirty minutes during the periods of active weather (clear for the Germans and blizzard for the Russians). I just go check mail and post in the forum while waiting

I do find that it helps a lot to set message to 1 before ending the turn. Then the first thing I do when I get back in is to change it back to whatever I normally use. It especially helps the recon and the russian partisan paradrops.

I do have a slow PC and it takes 30 minutes plus as well. The fact that most of that time you have a static screen means it definitely is a time for multi tasking. Always look busy though - wives abhor idle wargamers

I starting to compalin a lognt ime ago...

This is really a boring problem, that's why I never continued any campaign after the first turn.
I set battle information to 0 and it is still very long.
When my wife "enables" me to play 2h I do not want to play just 2/3 turns.
i wish there would be an official solution....

Yep, takes me two to four hours to do my part. On the (very) rare occasions when I have a four hour block to play, I usually end up ending the turn before I am really through just so I can take a break.

LOL, thats why I got rid of my wife back in 2004, kept the three kids though! However now the problem is the kids are much older and they all prefer FPS stuff and consider Dad's games way too boring and slow!!! WitE doesn't help this problem (WitP-AE much lessor of a problem) when I'm looking at a static screen, so I make busy like on the net or find some work stuff to do, etc. That doesn't work as then they think it should be thier turn to roll out some FPS stuff that I made the mistake of putting on my main PC... So I bought em a xbox, which then turned into a 360 which then turned into a PS3 which then turned into needing three Big Screen HD maniac TV's with sound systems and such...

I miss the old days, Board Games are way cheaper

Hi all,

Just one thing here for reference...

When I do AI vs. AI testing (and I do quite a lot of that in WitE developement) using fastest possible settings one turn usually takes just few minutes per side on my workstation!

When you set the info to "0", how long does it take to process BTW?

Oh and sorry to hear about the 2nd part of your problem, maybe you could resolve this by buying her stuff? Kind of like a online MMO or such except you keep all the benifits at home, well except the money part

I would suggest that the AI Vs AI is different in this case and as expected would be much faster, makes sense. How long does it take otherwise in the aforementioned scenerio?

I set the messages to 0, and the AI takes about 15 seconds to do all the recons

15 seconds, wow. Course at 0 setting I guess you miss the AI's entire turn for the most part? Then just review during your own would be faster no doubt and is prob the reason why it's available that way I guess...

I also put it on 0. I just review the enemy turn afterwards. It is the same as playing PBEM. For me, the AI turn usually takes around 10 to 15 minutes on a rather slow machine, IIRC, I haven't played the AI for some while.

I highly recommend trying PBEM as soon as you feel you have learnt the game, that is a lot more challenging and fun. Human opponents are much more crafty. Of course, the downside is you have to wait even longer for the turns in PBEM...

This is a very complicated game, and I actually think the AI is quite good for a game of this type, even though it has its limitations, especially in the attack. Personally, I would rather have a competent AI than a very fast one. And one turn a day is a reasonable pace even against the AI if one has a life as well.
