ONly one nation (I forgot which) can get rangers. As I understand it, they are a special unit like Katyushas and Panzers.

well yeah.. the american/brit/aussie nation gets them.. but it seems a bit weird that a unit just replaces another. That isnt the case with other special units. And if it is intended it seems a bit.. well meh in design terms :-/

My guess is that there is simply a 'bug' and the cost hasnt been increased (again in the description it says they are more expensive)

Rangers have better morale but take longer to train up (gain experience).

Edit: After the first patch, they will cost more too.

@dakasha,

I'll look into this. If there is an error it will be fixed in the first patch. Thanks for sharing your observations.

best,
Vic

All of the special research has to be enabled by the scenario designer.

Rangers start with 20 experience, start with 100 morale, and entrench twice as quickly as normal Rifles. Further changes might be applied in my mod.

It seems they should have more interesting stats as well.. better recon etc. But im just going by flavor and ignoring balance

Sounds like as they exist they are great for throwing into the meat grinder to stop an enemy advance....they are more effective as raw recruits jumping off the trains into machinegun fire...

Run into the same thing here; what's the difference between rifles and rangers? Not morale and experience in patch 2.05... as far as I can see. Yes they are more expensive, but other than that
Any ideas?

At the moment rangers start with 20 more XP points then other troop types.

They should also have had higher morale then they actually get after production. This will be fixed in v2.07

best regards,
Vic

Just curious...I see a 2.07 patch mentioned here, almost 2 months ago. Is it still in the works or has it been scrapped?

I think it's in the "members section", that's also where your games are registered. Note; your forumaccount does not work there, you have to make a new account for the members section.
I'm still at 2.05 .... LOL
