and hello to my friends to come here sometimes. and especially hello to stuman who is a gracious man.

I do not know what is tithe except 1/10 of income to the church of your choice. And maybe this place is a church and maybe I should give some money but I do not think so. I like Genever Gin and really cold and over ice. And I like some caribbean rum, and it is caramelized and aged and tastes like smoke and oakem. Bolls (ice cold) and Pussers Blue Label (room tempa) are what I like.

so here I am and I say hello. MO

1/10 of posts to the THREAD! That's the tithe....

You and USS America will get along great! He's a big rum fan. I'm more of a whiskey and gin guy myself. Have not have Genever. Ah...I see it is a different style of gin completely. Sounds interesting. Indeed, I did not know there were so many styles of gin, we basically get only the London dry types over here.

Pretty sure 'Hendricks' is not a London dry type of gin. Mrs. Chickenboy and I really enjoy it.

I drink this one, made here in the States. It's quite good and reasonably priced.

If you can find it, you will probably like Lamb's Navy Rum as well... It's my favorite, but I usually have to buy Pusser's because Lamb's is hard to find around here.

Hey USS....tornado warning for you guys.

Outside the public library using their wifi from the parking lot - Tithe.

We're all good. Lost power about 3:15, but didn't see anything too severe at our house. Power is still out almost 3 hours later.

My wife is on the road, heading east, and will likely have to dodge some strong storm cells on her way to work in Greenville tonight. Radio sounds like there are some areas of severe tornado damage in parts of Raleigh. We're very fortunate.

Just watched the first episode of the first series of the BBC's reimagining of Sherlock Holmes. Was actually much, much better than you'd think. It probably helped that I had no clue () about the existence of it until I saw it in tonight's TV listing.

Will definitely be tuning in for the second episode next Saturday.

yes and I sail a lot with Jwe and drink what he has on the boat. He has rum and whiskey and it is all good but I like other things.

I like ice cold Genever gin and ice cold Russian vodka. And drink it ice cold and neat from a shot glass. And have it with black bread and sweet butter and caviar or a jewish lox or a sweedish smorgastarta with dill and onions. And I like the delicate taste of the liquer when I drink it with the delicate taste of the foods. And yes liquer must be drank along with it's right food. Liquer and food are like kibbels and bits. They must go together. And when they do the taste is sublime.

MO

Good thing dinner is a cookin' cause you just made me salivate MO.

Back home with the power back on.  My wife just called and has made it to work safely.

Others in the area and the state have not been so lucky.

Good to hear all is well for you...we're fortunate in Knoxville 'most' of the time (unlike other areas in the south) we just get heavy rain, although a small community nearby was hit with an F3 earlier in the year.

I don't want to take anything away from the tornado victims in NC by discussing MN's historical trends here, but we've been surprised here in Minnesota by the number of tornadoes of late. Last June (2010) we set a dubious record for having a series of 39 tornadoes in one day-the most ever recorded in any state in one day. I don't think of North Carolina as being much of a tornado alley for that matter either, but sounds as though y'all are having a pretty rough day too.

Not suggesting it will be perfect, but look back several decades to maybe the 40's-50's-60's even, because some long term cycles have swung back around and might be roughly where they were back then.

Andre, this line of storms has been spawning tornadoes since late Thursday from Arkansas, all the way across the South.  We usually don't have widespread outbreaks like this.  The news is talking about a similar outbreak in 1984, so every 30 years or so.

From my 5 years in Rochester, MN, I seem to remember tornadoes popping up in 1's or 2's, but much stronger individually.  I can't complain, personally.  My biggest inconvenience was having the power out for a couple of hours and worrying for my wife until she made it safely to work.

In 2008, we had an F3 swing by within a half mile of our house in the northern suburbs of St. Paul-it clobbered Hugo, Minnesota, just across I-35 from where we were living and killed a couple people in a housing development there. Golf ball sized hail and straight line winds between 60-70MPH smacked our town pretty hard.

At the time, we were in the midst of buying another home nearby. That one (the one we're living in today) got smacked even harder.

All told, we had about $35,000 damage to our first house, some $9,000 hail damage to two vehicles and about $65,000 hail damage to the house that we were in the midst of buying. I do a lot of cringing with severe thunder cells between June and August around here.

Hey-at least we don't get earthquakes or hurricanes here [touches wood].

Probably not, but I dont think that the concept of being wrong...ever...has occurred to him. A state that he is apparently willing to declare loudly and proudly.

(sung to the tune of 'We Don't Need Another Hero'):

Out of the ruins of Darwin
Out from the wreckage
Can't make the same mistake this time
We are the Allies
USS Mike and Steve
We are the ones that lost our senses
And we wonder when we are ever gonna change
Living under the fear of invasion, till nothing else remains

We don't need another hero
We just need another turn
All we want is more airframes
But they all burn

Looking for something
We can rely on
There's gotta be something better out there
Burmese infantry?
Their days are numbered
All else are castles built in the air
And we wonder when we are ever gonna change
Living under the fear of invasion, till nothing else remains

All the Allies say:
We don't need another hero
We just need to get a turn
All we want is more airframes
But they all burn

So what do we do with our lives
We leave only a mark
Will our story shine like a light
Or end in the dark
Give it all or nothing

All the Allies say:
We don't need another hero
We just need to get a turn
All we want is more airframes
But they all burn
