The current logistic system in UV is barely manageable, even for a micromanager! They have got to change the system and make it more automatic, especially if it goes to daily turns!

What would the "Masses" recommend?

I'd say give each base a priority number and from what HQ base it draws supplies. Assign AK's and even AP's to the HQ logistic command and the LC does it's job or tells you that more AK's are needed! Have this hub system work it's way back up to the west coast or India.

Ok Guy's go at it!

How was it managed in history ?
I currently use some second line bases (Gili Gili , PM, Lunga) supplied by 6-10 ship convoys for further distribution with small convoys/single vessels/airlift. When I have new frontline bases I disband another (now) rear area base.
I can barely imagine that this was true in real life for the US as the number one industrial nation but perhaps for the japaneses ?

Greetings, What do you find difficult/un managable about UV's supply system? I have no problems understanding it or getting it to do what I require.
Operational!!!!!!! (Means logistics)

After playing UV for awhile, I have a handle on the logistics. My biggest complaint is that you can have only one routine convoy to each base. That forces me to spend too much time checking on convoys, making sure bases are supplied. I can do it, it just takes too much time.
Having said that, I would hope that with the huge increase in area and number of units covered, that this game would give you the option of handing over some aspects of supply to an "administrative officer".
It would also be nice to be able to detach / cross attach ground units to different headquarters.

UVs system works well for me. I just wish that you could set computer controlled convoys to run from any base instead of just from Truk. I’m assuming that you will be able to in WitP, since Truk won’t have unlimited supply.

.... were the supplies directly delivered to the frontline bases or was there also a kind of "distribution system" ?

P.S. I abandon bases when I see no need to use them further because I have enough forces/aircraft nearby to react in short time.

Perhaps some automated convoy system would be useful. Maybe something like PACWAR? Bases not in range of enemy air power could be supplied by routine, automatic convoys while those in range of enemy air power would require the player to define a convoy.

And, I think that the "operational damage" model needs to be revamped. Give the captains and crew some credit for being able to fix things or get them fixed during port calls.
