I'm not exactly sure here if this is a bug or not. The AI behaved very strangely so, to me, it seems like a bug.

I was at war with the Iphimira Federation but then we all got the message to join up with the Ancient Guardians to fight the Shakturi. I agreed as did the Iphimira and several others. Obviously, our war stopped and we became "friends."

However, not too long after, I got the message that I had been invaded by the Iphimira. I couldn't believe it as, not only are the Iphimira now my allies, our relationship has become very good.

My thoughts are that maybe the AI has some bug in it that it didn't completely resolve our war before and, thus, behaves this way.

Not sure, so wanted to post it up. I have a save file if needed.

Maybe a leftover invasion force that didn't change it's orders? Was this a single incident or a did it happen again later?

They attacked a few other colonies afterwards, so it's a continuous incident.

In the new update for DWROTS it says

quote:

o Fixed bug where empires with Mutual Defense Pacts were sometimes attacking each other.

I hope you are playing with the latest update.

If you are I would upload the save before the incident.

Elliot doesn't seem to drop by here very often, so it's best to provide all the info.

From what I saw, he prioritizes on bugs that were supposed to be fixed but end up reappearing. So if this does indeed happen on the latest patch I assume he'll squash it with impunity.

Yeah, seen some of the issues that were supposed to be fixed like fleet taking extra long distance missions and the invisible Kaltors. Also i seen my defense pact allies try to "ultimatum" me into giving up stations and colonies, i'm sure it's not what proper allies should do. And my pirates i paid to be my allies have attacked my forces during an attack from one of my enemies, not exactly what i expect from allies unless Pirates are double crosser by default. Seem to me they messed up with the patch.

Hi !

I got a similar bug, except I never was at war with the nation that backstabbed me.
I was playing securan, with a free trade with human.
After a long free-trade relationship, humans offered a mutual defence.
As soon as I accepted, they started taking colonies from me.
I reloaded after the first on was taken, fired the mutual defence pact and the invasion stopped.

Seems to me like a nasty bug or a AI exploit ;b

Oh yeah, I started the game last saturday after updating the game (Shakturi return). So I guees I've got the last version ?

There is a recent 1.5.0.8 patch for ROTS that fixes this, use the game updater to get it and then you'll be up to date.

I was under the impression in your main forum post, that they didn't actually declare war on you at any point. They attacked, invaded and the relationship score kept going up. All the while, the MDP (mutual defence pact) was in effect.

Is that correct?

Please check your DW version and confirm.

I did do a manual update to the latest.  I double checked that I was updated...

However, I had started the game using the beta patch.  This event occurred, though, after I had updated.

I will come back and upload the save file to the ftp site when I get the chance.

Check the bottom left corner of your main game start screen - the one where you see the "tutorials, quick start", etc listed vertically.

Ok, the save has been uploaded to the server.  I named it Treaty Bug 042011.

And, yes, it is updated to version 1.5.0.8.

Hopefully Elliot will make note of this issue and address it in the next patch for DW, now that it's confirmed from multiple sources and he has (hopefully) a save game that reproduces it.

When the nest patch will be out I expect to see him here with the template "bux fixed in next patch". A report here and a save game are the best tools for us to trigger his bug squashing spree.

Has the problem here been identified and a patch to fix it coming out anytime soon?  I'd like to come back and finish my game here...

I had MDP Allies take a colony from me in my last game.

Later on I edited the colony back to my empire due to the faulty AI logic.

Whats stopping you from ignoring this bug until it's patched? You can edit away any problems.

I must say, I agree, some word on whether all the bugs I have reported are in hand would be nice.

I dont personally enjoy spending 30 mins plus reporting faults with a game.

On another forum the bug reports are dealt with swiftly, here there has been no word for 3 weeks plus.

We just got word from Erik that a new expansion is on it's way so this may explain the lack of feedback lately.

Continuously editing my empire to compensate for an AI bug that is causing any ally to attack me is not my cup of tea (in my game here, they would do it constantly as I played it out a bit). I can deal with small bugs but nothing that breaks the game mechanics.

You and other players have much more tolerance than I to these sort of issues. I, personally, have little time for gaming and don't want to be messing around with a game that has broken mechanics hampering it.

That being said, I think it's great that you take the time to post all of the bugs that you encounter in game, cookie monster.

It's about the only thing we can do to improve the game or at least iron out the bugs.
