There is a video AAR out now for the Battlefront CMBN. You can view it here.

CMBN Video AAR

It is worth watching in HD so allow the video to download some before you actually start viewing it. It is looking very good IMHO.

At 7:03 into the video he mentions Tiger II tanks. That would be different.

Good Hunting.

Watching it now thanks for the link! What I really *don't* like about this video so far though is the guy is constantly referring to CMSF.. which I have absolutely no interest nor intention of ever playing in my life. I can't tell you how much I detest and am sickened by the whole concept of USA vs Syria.. so no, not everyone who will buy CMBN is a previous CMFS player...! Ok finally he's shutted up about CMSF and looks interesting now...

He jumped all over the screen a lot at first and it was hard to watch.

Speaking of the Rhino tanks these Shermans have the Cullin device and this action was long before Operation Cobra.

Plus, I've never seen anywhere that shows this action centered around a village. All the AAR's I've ever seen of the action talk about a single farmhouse.

Good Hunting.

I watched about 10-15 minutes of the battles total. I think that it looks very sterile. I am a little dissappointed with it at first glance. Now I am really gonna wait and see what all the fuss is about, first before I buy, or if I buy. From the screenshots of both PCO and CMN, I say advantage PCO in the graphics department. PCO looks much better from the screenshots that I have seen.
Looking forward to getting this on the HD soon... It is gonna be soon isn't it?

An infantry squad surrendered to a bailed out tank crew? WOW!

yes I totally agree it does look sterile... funny thing is I always thought the *original* Combat Mission looked more realistic... mostly because I liked to have my camera views set at a distance, yet zoomed. Not sure how to describe what I mean, but I think anyone who's played it knows what I'm saying. Especially Africa in the desert sands... so far I'm not impressed by the new graphics.

I got through 18 minutes. Too much jumping all over the map in real time.

I noticed the delay in the grass propagation like in CMSF in one view.

Interesting Video.

In most respects I prefer the CMx2 camera over the PC camera, except in CMSF that there is no decent bino/1st person view. It is just too hard for me to effectively watch replays while tracking a moving unit in CMSF: The camera position tracks too far behind, so zooming in causes a very narrow FOV and trees, leaves, buildings, and other stuff often gets in the way.

The Bino view in PC is really my favorite feature. I have a hard time playing CMx2 w/out it.

I kind of miss not having the msg box in CMx2, too. I don't see why Battlefront can't simulate radio traffic (for units in contact at least) w/a msg log? If you want to play real time, a msg box is a must, unless you want to play zoomed out missing some great details.

Looks great. I can't wait to play it, particularly that second scenario as the US side.

Quite a few years ago I played a Barkmann's corner scenario in miniatures. In that scenario the attack was preceeded by an air attack which took out a Panther and some units in the village. A single panther didn't go into the situation alone. But circumstances led to that. Barkmann was able to take out about 8 Shemans but had to withdraw as Shemans were flanking his location.

Bothered? No not really, what do you mean... or is the psychopath inside of you taking to you again?

I agree completely.

And no one need be concerned about the extent or degree to which this might undermine the embrace of PCO. These games are, at their core, so completely different as to be deemed simply beyond comparison. From their inception, the designers were working toward completely different ends, and it shows. Close Combat was a great little game, too, but it was fundamentally different from the CM1 games. Both games thrived, in there own right, and the biggest disappointment that I can note in regard to either, was the failure of committed fans of each to recognize that which was to be celebrated in the other. For anyone at all interested in tactical wargames, the release of these two new titles is a good thing.
Life is good. Be happy.

Taking to? What do you mean? Is this some sort of comic-book reference?

It wasn't very well 'produced'. He was distracting and I kind of wish I didn't watch it.

I wish the hedges around my house looked as nice as those 'hedgerows'....

Seems those US tanks would have been better off just jumping out of the shermans on the first turn and fight as infantry.

Thanks all the same, but frankly, your opinion here is irrelevant.
