ORIGINAL: USS America Most public places in the US, like train platforms, no longer allow smoking. It varies by state, but more and more are effectively pushing smoking out of public places, even outdoors. Edit: BTW, as an asthmatic who's mother, father and brother all smoked while I was growing up, I'm all in favor of the restrictions. Nah. Outdoors is outdoors. Leave the poor SOBs alone, will ya? It's like some people with peanut allergies insisting that no one can bring nut products anywhere around them or people that are sensitive to perfumes insisting on a scent-free workplace so that nothing disturbs them. I want a no farting outdoors (or indoors) law. I find them most disagreeable when I'm anywhere within-say-200 yards. Because of the fact that I *might* be around you (probably not, but we wouldn't want to take chances...), it's best if you never farted outdoors again. If you did so, I would interpret that as an immediate assault on my health, well-being and peace of mind. Onime, I'll mooch one off of you in support. Places like railway platforms should be smoke free, just because it's outdoors doesn't mean that the smoke is less harmful to the crowds of people around the smoker does it? I've got no issues with smokers going somewhere away from the crowd to light up and kill their lungs if they so desire, or doing it in their own house. Each to their own, I don't smoke my own cigarettes so why should I have to suffer the fumes from someone else in a public space?
