I'm tempted to offer a GC2 game, but I've been waiting for the next official patch to come out before I start a third pbem. I currently have two GC1 pbems underway, the Allied one where I've got an AAR, and a Japanese one which is in August 42 and I haven't done a AAR. Both matches have been going on over a year. I mucked up the start of the Japanese pbem pretty badly and allowed my opponent to establish "fortresses" all over the Far East. I then switched strategies into a Great Chinese War, which has turned out much better. So, of course, I'm still thinking how I would try a start and not make the same mistakes. I'm on the other side of the planet from you, so it would be a challenge for us to do more than a turn per day, even if I didn't have two other current opponents. And I am usually pretty busy on weekends, and travel from time-to-time without my game pc. So my opponents have to be very patient with me. As far as House Rules go, and also Game-start decisions: 1 - I like PDU on 2 - I like 1 day turns 3 - I HATE "advanced" weather. I've lived with it in my other two pbems, but I've tested "no advanced weather" in AI games and I like the way it works much better. BTW - having advanced weather "off" does not affect Fog or War at all. 4 - I would like a historic start and "surprise on". I've mucked about with non-historic starts and I end always doing worse than the historic start. 5 - I always start a game with all Replacements, upgrades and base building off. It means a bit more work for each player during the first couple of set-up turns, but I feel that it is worth it. I also always start with all Computer Controls "off". As far as House rules go: - I don't like "100 ft" naval attacks in 1942. I don't feel that the Game models them well at all and that they are too powerful and too accurate. - I do like to chose my own max altitude for my Fighters. Both sides get their turns playing that game, and I know from playing both sides that it is as easy to goof up max altitude Sweeps on either side, and also possible to defend as either side. - I'm not a fan of Strategic Bombing other than where and when it was done historically. I feel that bombing out Chinese Industry or most other Industry in 1942 is Gamey and non-historical In any event, if my ideas of playing sound interesting to you, and you think that we won't lose much by starting a new game before the next Patch, let me know and we can see about getting a game started.
