I agree. My preference would be to wait for that mod and then start another game.

I actually started on a web application for managing PBEM games a year or so ago, but never finished.

The idea was that you don't e-mail your turns any more, you upload them to the web application and then the web application sends an e-mail to the next person telling them that their turn is ready for download.

The idea was to have a status page for every game that you could see exactly whose turn it was that everyone was waiting on. No muss no fuss.

I thought there might be 2 different types of games: ones where there was a fixed turn rotation (like AT) and one where the next turn was dependent on game situations (i.e. sub-turns, a good example of this is Empire in Arms).

Since ATG has come out i am thinking about working on it some more.

I'm wondering what happened to the freaking turn. Have been for 10 days now. It's fun for sure but almost impossible to keep track of. Not sure if the GD mod will ever get ported to ATG, the AI speed could make a real improvment in solitaire games as one nation vs. a world of AI.

This game is going to be very interesting because of the relatively weak position Germany is in and normally Germany dominates these games. I think this opens things up considerably.

The idea of a server based PBEM system, where profiles and statistics are kept and openly shown, makes a whole lot of sense to me. The game status, turn status and turn file are all shown and all available to all players. PLayer statistics relevant to the PBEM community are shown in the avatar. That way, there is no confusion and the habits of the players is clear to everyone before a game is started.

So, rant aside, can we keep playing ?

Good idea. I would also include player stats, average turnaround time, # of completed games, length of time as a member. I imagine this can be a way to avoid getting into long games with people who are not likely to play them out.

I'm on the fence as well. I was having fun. If Germany and Turkey and ... Archduke surrender, I won't be able to profit from it. The resulting tumult for the cities left will likely be the deciding point of the game.

The pace of the game is main gripe, guys, not the game itself, I thought that my France was doing rather nicely compared to past GD´s performances. Did Turkey leave because he lost the war or because our progress is so slow?

I don't have much time (read: interest) to spare for the AT/ATG - so in order not to bore you too much (waiting for the damn turn to arrive) I've decided to drop the ball in the World Domination game.

I have some other games running, but 2 are most likely to end soon, and others will be more easily managed.

Turkey is good to go.
So - you want it?

I'll play the turn if it comes around, but I don't have enough interest (read:time ) to take over another country.

@ Casus_Belli: well, the proposal was laid before The Archduke's feet, actually ... but your refusal is duly noted ...

Well, the turn is at my end right now. I will do it today, but I am not happy by Turkey dropping as well.

As you might have noticed Britain and Turkey have had an agreement about ZOI in Near and Middle East. Britain has as well landed in Holland to help Germany in the fight against France. So both sides had been controlled by srndac, while Britain is my part. Therefore it might make sense that I take Turkey and Germany in case we find noone else for them and noone is concerned that my part might be too strong. As Germany might already been defeated and Britain has to give up all of Canada except of Vancouver, the alliance of Britain and Turkey might not be too powerful - and they would follow common interests in Near and Middle East anyway.

@ srndac: Well excu-use me! I thought there had been several countries looking for new dicta... er... humanitarian rulers.

Like I say, I'll keep playing the turn if it comes around. Who knows? I may kick everyone's a**, but I'm really interested in ATG now.

I´m already working in GD for ATG, but it will take some time to be ready. I´m doing lots of changes, including 5 extra playable regimes and about 40 new countries (no more free conquests, you must go to war)
