A routed unit ended up within my zone of control, behind my panzers as they pushed towards Kharkov. I mean, should a routed unit route into EZOCs and should it create its own zone of control?

Also, how do I fit the picture to the window?

Dunno about the routing mechanic...

but to fit the picture in the forums window you need to RESCALE the picture to 1038 pixels wide.

That hex is not in your zone of control.
This is a bit of a fluke, but routing in an IGOUGO system is subject to these kinds of things. I'd say it's working as intended, just a fluky route. Not that uncommon to see weird routs.

Cropping is your friend.

It was my zone of control before the routed unit appeared in it, then the three hexes NW of the routed unit came under its ZOC -- or pending, or whatever it is. Note the position of my units, in order for them to be where they arrived in that turn, the surrounding hexes were converting/pending my ZOC if that makes sense. Maybe you could explain what you mean cause I may be misunderstanding.

a routed unit will not go to ennemy territory so you had not this hex
better remember that regiment (III) change control in their hex only
probably a regiment too with your HQ this explain your control of hexes

A routed umit runs to the nearest friendly city or HQ. That had to be a Soviet hex, because we never had that bug

Hmmm, I am pretty confident I watched as it coverted my ZOC to its own ZOC and placed the routed unit, but I admit I could have imagined it. I do believe the western most regiment was originally two or three hexes to the east/north-east and then I moved it west to expand my ZOC, the same ZOC in which the routed unit "seemed", apparently, to have plopped itself. Either way, a strange routing procedure at the very least. I will look to see if this happens again, or perhaps I am playing too much WitE and hallucinating!

I don't mean to belabor this, but I am seeing a number of strange routing units. Not only the above, but the routing Hungarian HQ below which "routed" due to an adjacent enemy unit (oops!) into the ZOC of my advancing panzers. Not sure what to make of it.

A) I think you're understanding of Zone of Control is defined improperly.  I don't mean this as an insult.  In both cases, you have taken screenshots that show a unit that is NOT in any ground unit's zone of control.

Instead, what I see is a unit that routed to an odd-place that is friendly controlled and meets the requirements of routing (basically, a town not in a ZOC).

B) Why is the Hungarian unit's route noteworthy?  I don't know where he originated, but he's clearly routed to someplace that is friendly and must have a town (and happens to be really close to the guys in the panzers, which is likely a very good thing).

PS: Thanks for the improved screenshot and cropping. Much appreciated.

This time it isn't an issue of ZOC, but rather odd routing mechanics. The Hungarian HQ was NW near the Hungarian units you see in the upper left-hand corner - not anywhere near where he routed to. He routed after stacked with a fellow Hungarian unit that I carelessly moved away while adjacent to an enemy unit. The problem is the Hungarian HQ routed/fled TOWARDS the enemy instead of away. If memory serves me correctly, in the order of play, the town the Hungarian HQ routed to was the most recent Soviet city hex I had captured.

That did occur to me, but then I dismissed it as utterly ridiculous!

Who do I send the saves to?

I have the auto-saves if that works?

It's not really a bug as it is an ai issue. While Axis units will typically relocate/rout westwards and Soviets will go east, it doesn't always have to happen that way. They will relocate to a friendly town or adjacent to their Hq. So in this case, while it seems awkwards, it appears to be wad.

None the less, we can forward this to Gary to look at since he handles most ai issues. You can send me both saves (the one just prior to combat and the one after). The autosave works fine for this. I understand what you did, you moved the unit that was located with it while adjacent to an enemy unit and the Hungarian Hq ran for the hills (let me know if that is the case). I'll see if I can't recreate the case if Gary wants to look at it. Trying to duplicate it will be tough since there are probably 30+ places it could have relocated to.

My email is sabre21@intermaxnetworks.com

Thanks

Andy

Ok, I sent the files. Hopefully they will be somewhat helpful. I'm not 100% on how exactly I got the HQ to route the way it did, but I'm probably 95% that it happened the way I described earlier.

Sincere thank yous and high-fives go out to 2by3, mods, and testers, etc. for providing such great support and patience.
