According to the Forum FAQs:

quote:

I have heard of threaded and plain discussion boards. Which formats do you support?

This forum can be viewed in 2 different formats: Flat Style (Posts are laid out in plain format) or Tree Style (Threads can be expanded and collapsed to show the posts within the thread). Members can switch between these two styles with a single mouse click. Members can also set their default viewing style in their profile.

I am only able to view the forum in Flat Style, not Tree Style, and I can't find any way of switching between these two viewing modes. Could someone please explain how it is done?

Goto my profile button and then change the preferences to tree style

Damian, the only relevant entry I see in 'My Profile' appears to be 'Viewing Preference', and this is only offering me a choice between Flat Style and Simplified Flat Style. I am wondering whether the FAQ is out of date, and a tree view is no longer possible.

At the top of the page, just above the first post, there's an icon labeled "Tree Style."  You don't see a change when you click it because the first post is still there, but scroll down the page and you'll see the tree.

Here's an image to illustrate how the first post in this thread is being displayed in my browser (64-bit Internet Explorer 9). I simply cannot see any such icon. Where should I be looking for it?

Now I'm starting to get paranoid. You are telling me that something done by those Microsoft characters is concealing the tree view option from me? How can that be?

Yep.

The icon should be just to the left of the Subscribe icon.

That's extraordinary! You're right: when I load this page on another computer using Internet Explorer 7, the tree/flat style toggle gets displayed and works fine.

I checked the underlying html and found that Internet Explorer 9 has apparently not retrieved the relevant source material for the toggle.

Can't find any straightforward way of reporting this as a bug to Microsoft. Maybe it is something that is better reported to ASPPlayground.NET as providers of the forum software. Presumably Matrix would have to do that as ASPPlayground.NET's customer.

I'm not losing any sleep over this, but it would be nice to have all the forum software working as it should.

Wasn't ignoring you, just wasn't in the forums.  Glad the others provided the solution to where the icon should be!

Well, the forum software, alas, has been rather glitchy for years... at least the search function has been... which is a pity, because at least when i joined the forum it worked just fine.

Then they did an "upgrade", and well, you know the rest... if you don't, you could try using the search function to find the prior complaints.
