Ok, so I am attacking 0=0 units (yes finally, in mud, after being isolated in mountains for some 15-20 turns, the Soviet yeti supermen are finally down to 0=0 strength. lol).

Suspected fault here is that the result is a tad unrealistic. Zero defenders show up and thus zero casualties for the attacker is the result, but the attacked unit still lives on and manages to retreat (!).

What I would like to see is some SHATTER events in these cases. But I guess yetis never do shatter.

To reproduce, load the 94_7.sav game I posted in the "Pocketed divisions disappearing" tech thread. Do deliberate attacks on the 0=0 Soviet units in the Caucasus.
Another oddity. Sometimes when attacking these 0=0 units they DO surrender, but the causalties for the surrendering unit seems way off (too low, as in the hundreds). I can't remember exactly when I saw that, maybe in the mentioned save or in the save from turn 93 attached in the same thread. If you have problems investigating this I can dig this info out.

Both of the 0=0 units managed to retreat, with zero casualties of course (nobody defended so nobody got hurt lol).

Ok, regarding the low casualty thing this is what I meant. As you can see I used the 96 save from the thread previously mentioned for this test.

Those 0=0 units are depleted through the attrition. In fact you shouldn't attack them. Just move another unit near by and this will trigger the destruction. The (known) issue is that such depleted units can start alone near the enemy after the logistic and movement phases. It should be fixed at some point.

Ahhhhh,thanks!

When I think of it this issue has been brought up before.

Yep when moving some other unit close to the 0=0:s, they disappear and their destruction is logged in the ground losses screen.

No "Show battles" icon appears though, would be nice to have that as well.

Depleted units can't participate in the battle, therefore no battle and no losses logged. Unit is going to be displaced and if there is no valid hex it will get destroyed.

Sir,
I have the same problem. Will this problem be fixed in the next patch?

There is a Soviet 0-0 unit in Moscow that can't be attacked or overran by muy adiacent units. It seems exatly the same problem that opened the thread.

Ragards,

Fabrizio

Is this HQ unit? What version you are running?

Bug was fixed in 1.04.10

quote:

35) Fixed a bug where Soviet Military Districts and the Moscow Defense Zone that were isolated could not be destroyed when they should have been (they should be disbanded after October 1941 if they are forced to retreat).
