Can two people do a faber or is it a solo endeavor?

i could put back in the emails into my gmail list that i KNOW are inactive/defunct...

EDIT: And then let one computer run unattended... if messages go out when only it is on, it would be suspected to be infected.

An interesting concept... a dual faber...

No, alas, fabering is solo... i will have to be content with just one.

iirc, from the movie, it was found to be eating supplies, so it probably didn't violate "preservation of mass"... and (iirc) it had "molecular acid" for blood... no currently known acid wouldn't do anything like that alien blood did.

Or, it's just a film I can dig out the book later and see what that has to say if the Thread is interested.

Watching Alien with the DU. (Is there only one alien in it?)

Nein. There's the face sucker, the chest exploder and at least one adult / gravid female phase.

That makes three, not nein.

chest exploder and the adult are the same beastie in different phases...

In the movie, does the exploder unit become the adult? We see an adult in the movie-it's not the same organism (all growed up) as the exploder or face sucker, right?

Iirc, it (the chest exploder) does become an adult... it gets out of the mess hall and starts eating stuff, then moves onto eating people.

The face hugger comes out of one of the eggs (so there are lots of other ones around, but not seen directly)... it shoves the embryo chest exploder down the throat and keeps it alive (while keeping the humans from removing it and/or the embryo chest exploder).

And here i thought you were an expert in parasitology!!

(sigh...) Physicians...

If you follow the origin of the thread on this issue, you'll find my response is correct. There are a multitude of aliens in the movie, not just one in different phases. I'm counting those eggs (1-1000), face sucker (1001), chest exploder (1002) and adult (assuming that it's around as an adult and not a growed up chest exploder =1003).

So, to rehash Sprior's original question (and my original answer)-YES, there is more than one alien in the movie.

Of course, you could argue that as none of the species featured in the film are native to the planet LV-426 that there are the eggs, the face-hugger, the xenomorph (+chest burster), Ripley, Dallas, Kane, Lambert, Parker, Brett and Jonesy.

But that's just being pedantic

Yes! Atta boy, Dixie! Finally someone understands my drive in this discussion!

It LOOKS like gmail actually picked up on it pretty quickly*... they temporarily suspended my account and blocked a lot of the spam messages from going out.

Anyway - i always try to put something in the subject line... all of these things had blank subject lines... so if you get messages with blank subject lines - be on the lookout.

EDIT: According to the time stamps, they started blocking messages within 6 minutes of the first one going out, and blocked most of them... only about "5 mass mailings" messages went out, and gmail blocked 3 of them (i think). They probably did this by the "unusual activity" of me mass mailing stuff, and it also generated a lot of "bounced" messages from defunct email acounts just on those two first messages. Kudos to gmail for quick action!!

I've noticed several "SPAM" posts from you on my AAR inciting me to violence. Were these the result of an unusual Spambot or the usual Spambot associated with their authorship?

Oh no! The AVG was infected? Won't that impinge your early war Burma air defenses?

Be ultra careful. If you decide to let your PC live in it's current incarnation (think Dr. Who) instead of nuking it from orbit, then use multiple products to do scans. Many of the big anti-virus guys have free/online scans if you go to their web sites. Never, ever, ever, use anti-virus scans that appear in online ads. Most are scams that actually infect your PC! Go to the reputable manufacturers directly: ESET, Sophos, F-Prot, AVG, several others.

And go to Microsoft (in IE browser) and have them run Microsoft update (Windows Update only updates Windows, Microsoft Update updates all Microsoft products). They have a Malicious Software Removal Tool already on your system that gets updated frequently to nail root kits and such. Check your versions of Adobe Flash and Reader for updates. Flash is among the least secure things out there with exploits thought to be ready and lined up for use one after another as previous ones get fixed. Check other software for updates of course. Chrome is the most secure Broswer (and I love using it, dropped FireFox a year ago). An exploit was announced recently found by a company, and they called it very obscure and required some of the most sophisticated code they have ever seen. Unfortunately they have not given the information to Google, instead they say they are giving it only to their "Government Agency Clients" - what a bunch of wankers! So Google is looking into it on its own. Anyway, Chrome is still the most secure. IE 9 is good too, definitely do not use any prior version of IE.

The problem might have been that malicious code from a web site got into another session on your browser when you had Gmail open, but did not break into your PC itself. However, if you use the PC for banking then you need to be extra careful in case it did break into the PC. Be advised that most scans can't find everything!

i tried Chrome, but didn't like it...

Since i am running Xp on most of my computers (somehow, i have an aversion to trashing several thousand dollars of software that won't run on Windows 7), and i need to use IE to use Microsoft update, and i am NOT supposed to use any version of IE except 9 (which won't work on Xp) - how is that supposed to happen??

Watched "Tombstone" last night. One of only two films in which Kurt Russell was cool (the other, obviously, "Escape from New York").
