Uhh, I seem to have disappeared some carrier planes.

In my first campaign game (#17), both the Lexington and the Yorktown got sunk in early May. (IJN lost a heavy CV and damaged the other to the point where I haven't seen it in weeks). This happened close enough to Port Moresby and Cooktown that the surviving USN carrier sub groups landed there.

After the battle was over, I got them out of PM, and decided to move them around to Noumea. They got as far as Rockhampton, and discovered they couldn't fly to Noumea.

By this point, I had the CVE Long Island in Noumea, but with no planes. So I thought I'd put the two together. I started sailing an Air Combat TF built around the Long Island toward Rockhampton, and the next turn I found that the game would let me use the TRANSFER To SHIP option to send a couple of these carrier subgroups out to the Long Island.

The problem is the next turn, when I go to look at the Long Island, there are no planes on her. And when I look through the air group lists, I don't see those sub-groups anymore.

All we know now at HQ is a strange radio transmission from the leader of the Dauntlesses. He mentions electrical interference, his compass spinning around wildly, and a strange blue glow enveloping the plane. Then silence.

I posted about a similar problem a few weeks ago, and never heard any sort of resolultion. It appearently has to do with carrier planes flying to the Long Island, but when the useless carrier is used as a trasport for land aircraft everything seems to work fine. In my case if was a full squadron of TBFs that diappeared, never to be seen again.

Never trust that ship! It's haunted!

Ditto -- seen TBFs go POOF.

Transferred P-39s just fine though.

I love it when a plan comes together.
