One day closer.  Not sure if I'm happy or sad about that.

What he said. In theory I could be done with the mob by late next summer if I don't get my time extended. Just been in a reflective mood today for some reason. Whilst I'd do another three years if it's offered, I'm not sure if it's the right thing or not any more.

Not sure how long you've been in but leaving the mob can be a bit of a shock to the system but all in all I prefer being a civvie.

I'm just past the 7 year point. I'd expect it to be a bit of a shock, but really I don't think it'll be the (imaginary) disaster it would've felt like last year. If they say no in the summer then I don't intend to ask again.

Dude, I'd do another round. Don't know what it's like on your side of the pond, but on our's, civvie street is a real mind bender.

You will need new shoes, several different styles; and socks to match. And pants (different colors and styles), and shirts, and blouses/jackets, and ties, and bears, oh my!

In that case, no deal!

If I'm honest with myself, I think the main reason I'm trying to stay in is the security blanket effect. That and the fact I'm allowed to play with expensive toys and tools all day.

hmmm...flight suit, CNT khaki's for shore duty, cotton khaki's for sea duty, dress blues for quarter deck watch in winter, whites for summer...oh yeah, navy ball coming up...need the dress whites spruced up...not enough? need the dress blues with dinner jacket and cumberbun...aviation boots for real work, brown shoes for any self-respecting naval aviator, black shoes for dress blues attire and those spiffy white shoes for summer (what a biotch to keep clean!)...

now i wear the same pair of jeans to work everyday, rewear the monday shirt on thursday to save on dry cleaning...and work clothes will do for dinner, casual parties, etc...heck...no wonder we had a "uniform allowance"...it never covered everything it needed to!

So Mike, how did the job interview go? The world wonders.

Just got home, and it seemed to go fantastically. Interviewed with 4 people, 2 managers and 2 potential peers. Had 4 really good conversations and then went home.

They are going to meet tomorrow and then contact the contracting agency I'm working through. The last guy in the interview lineup left my previous employer a year ago and started at this place on a 6 month "contract to hire" arrangement, the same as the position I'm applying for. He was hired permanent after his 6 months.

I think things look really good, and I expect to hear good news as soon as tomorrow. Now, I'm going out to dinner with my son to celebrate both big occasions today.

Microsoft knows where you are!

Windows 7 and, we think Vista, check for internet connectivity by downloading a file froma an MS website. When that happens MS logs the IP address...
