That's the irony of language: it's only understandable when it doesn't make sense.

It makes sense in my head and that's the only place that matters.

Where else would scents be made, other than your head?

They're made in lots of places. They are detected in your head.

You're right. I recall Sprior's comment from last week stating that we spend far too much time here poking fun and making lousy jokes. We should strive to be more sensible.

I realize, "busting one's chops" may not be intuitively obvious to some of our non-American THREAD brothers. I believe (please correct me) that the English equivalent may be, "having you on". Is 'having a go' at one the same? What's the Australian / NZ equivalent? Danish / Swedish translation?

"slagging" comes to mind...

Nein, herr red planetarian. Scents (like sounds) are the neurologic input elicited by external stimuli and interpreted by one's brain / sensory organs. Antigens / esters / things that are frequently interpreted as scents are made in lots of places. Only one place makes scents (or sound)-your noggin.

Nein - it depends on your definition - here are a few:
1. A distinctive, often agreeable odor. See Synonyms at fragrance, smell.
2. A perfume: an expensive French scent.
3. An odor left by the passing of an animal.
4. The trail of a hunted animal or fugitive.
5. The sense of smell: a bear's keen scent.
6. A hint of something imminent; a suggestion: caught the scent of a reconciliation.

Your definition seems to be #5. Note they now have chemical analyzers that will track scent - nothing neurologic about that.

Of course, you could say EVERYTHING is in your head, mr. solopsist.

That same argument could claim that humans exist only in one's head.

EDIT: Or everything.
