Figures and symbols question - 5/26/2011 11:17:06 PM

I'm considering getting this game, but can anyone answer a question on graphic display options? I see from the screenshots that detailed tactical battles represent units as figures (men, horses and so on). But on one screenshot there seems to be a tactical battle where NATO-style symbols are used for the units. Is this an option which can be toggled?

Also, on the strategic map some units seem to represented by symbols (e.g. corps & divisions) whereas there are also figures of infantrymen and cavalry. What's the difference? Are the latter representing units smaller than divisions?

I ask because I'm not a massive fan of figures representing units and much prefer the NATO symbol style.

Thanks in advance.

So, 17 people have looked at my question. Any chance of a reply? I'm able to answer one part myself: I think I now know what the figures on the strategic map are (unassigned brigades, raiders and partisans). Can anyone tell me about the tactical map? It's odd that there's only one screenshot showing the NATO symbols, while all the rest show figures. The more I read about this game, the more I like the look of it, but it would still be very nice to know.

Tactical map, you can chose between nato symbols (my preference) and tiny men shooting.
Strategic map, you got it right.

Aha! Thank you very much indeed Terje . That, plus the AAR that the designer wrote up showing some of the strategic level functionality, has swung the balance. Chalk up a sale! .

Hope you enjoy the game, I did for sure.
Just ask if there is anything you wonder about

Thanks very much. I've only had chance for a quick glance so far, but it does look very good.

Sorry, I've been moving cross-country, so I missed your posts. Looks like there's nothing for me to add, other than my usual hearty welcome and encouragement to ask any other questions you may have.

No problem, Gil. Thanks very much for the welcome :-) I'm working my way through the game at the moment and really enjoying it. That's some steep learning curve mind you ;-). I'm now trying out the Intermediate game, but I think I'll move onto the Advanced before too long.
