I don't know if this will help or not, but I had alot of trouble adding the new expansion....
I finally got it to work and here are the steps I did to get it to work:

1.) I did a clean install of the orginal game. (In my case, I installed it to C:\Matrix Games\Commander Europe At War (Directory)
2.) I upgraded the game to 1.12 Gold Edition.
3.) I then upgraded with 1.12 to 1.06 CEAW.
4.) I then went into Windows Explorer and went to the 'Commander Europe At War' directory and deleted the 'Grand Strategy Mod', and its sub directories.

5.) I then installed the Grand Strategy 2.0 expansion.

Make sure that when you install the Grand Strategy 2.0...that you install it to the orginal directory that the CEAW game started in. In my case it was C:\Matrix Games\ Commander Europe At War.

Also, when it asked about where to assign the shortcut afterwards, I didn't direct it to C:\Matrix Games\Commander Europe At War; I let it install the desk top shortcut to the one shown before it installs the expansion.

I hope this helps anyone who is frustrated in trying to install the new expansion.

Take care all.....

OMG!
What a giant pain int he butt.

Why can't upgrades from these folks just work???

I tried to upgrade to the gold edition a few months ago and after many hours of fooling around, I gave up....

Now I got suckered in again because the new Grand Strategy 2.0 upgrade sounds great. So I paid for the gold edition and downloaded it (my second time buying this game) just so that I wouldn't run into problems...

and what do you know? The Gold Edition works now, but the GS Expansion just won't work. I've downloaded it 4 times trying different configurations each time per the instructions in various places here on the forums. Still no luck.

Now I've wasted $50 and most of my Saturday!!!! ugh!

I'm pretty frustrated.

You know what I have done....sometimes when I am not sure if by adding an expansion will screw up what I already have loaded, I make a different 'Directory' and reload a fresh new game there; so I can play certain expansions on one, and other expansions on the other game.

Sucks sorta, but at least I then have the ability to play what I want.

I had a major problem with Distant Worlds, so I made 2 of them, and have been able to play what I needed using both loads.

Take care....

Why upgrade 1`.12 gold to 1.06 CEAW? I don't understand that part?

Thanks
