Well, all successful art critics must use 'vis-a-vis' at least once in any full review, don't they?

Hmmm ... why did I get "Helmut"-vibes from the "Linda"-postings in the Opp wanted thread?

Anyway, not my problem. Tithe.

It could be that my cynic and suspicious dark side conspires vis-a-vis what could be a perfectly normal request.

It's "art", Leo. It's not meant to be understood by normal people.

It's a socio-dynamic look at Man's inhumanity to Man which makes a comment on the fight or flight reaction. The painting of the tank in a desert scheme also makes a critical remark on US policy in the Middle East since 1945, whilst using a British Centurion tank also remarks on Britain's role in that region...

See, being an art critic isn't hard

Actually, if that Centurion is an ex-IDF machine (as I suspect), the piece is a scathing indictment of Israel's treatment of the Palestinians.

Ah yes, I agree with my erstwhile companion on this facet of the piece. The usage of an ex-IDF tank does create a powerful image in regards to Israel vis-a-vis the Palestinian territories and people and the implied support for such policies that is received from the Western nations through the supplies of military hardware.

We can also see that the runner is wearing a blue outfit and is white. Need I remind you all that the colours of the Israeli flag are blue and white? Also the red stripe of his trainers represents the blood of victims.

Sorry threadsters, but you are all wrong. This piece of art is:

A searing indictment of domestic servitude in the eighteenth century

I would have thought that was patently obvious, now all we need are some hot gypsies thrown in

My dear Grollub, apropos my interpretation of the aforementioned art work, I think it fair to say that - vis-a-vis the earlier comments - my definition was by far the most accurate in conveying the artist's innermost thought process; a process of hellish turmoil and angst, out of which, such a masterpiece was created. This work is truly the ultimate expression of the plight of servants in the Edwardian era, n'est-pas?

Or am I talking complete B******?

They do say, Terminus, that verbal insults hurt more than physical pain. They are, of course, wrong, as you will soon discover when I stick this toasting fork into your head.

Go buy a little turnip of your own... Or maybe a great big one in the country...

For me, socks are like sex: tons of it about, and I never seem to get any.

The new incarnation of "Helmut" is using the name of a prostitute from Ghent in Belgium. At least I think so; my Flemish is a bit rusty...

Was she any good? Or was she a bit old and on the rough side, in which case a Manchester United footballer who resembles a potato may know.......allegedly.

Anyone in here fancy a game?

Got plenty of gaming going, Dixie: Pride of Nations, EDtBtR, Defense Grid, Fable 3, Call of Duty multiplayer. Busy, busy, busy...

Looks like it I'm playing WitP AE, Cities XL, Football Manager, Red Orchestra, Silent War and some Battletech. I spent all that money on a PC and I use it to play boardgames Hopefully I'll manage to get some Blood Bowl and World War 1 into my near future.

I'm just a bit concerned that I'll start a game with someone who turns out to be a sociopath, a la whatever he's calling himself this week. I figure that if I can get a game with a Threadster I know that I'm getting a socially maladjusted individual

Speaking of which, he/she/it is already looking for another game

Terminus - Is Eagle Day Bombing The Reich worth looking in to?

Also, Dixie, is Cities XL pretty much like SimCity?
