There are at least 9 japanese division scattered across North Burma which is an outstanding result I have sucked in a lot of LCU's to a non decisive theatre

plus Guards tank and 33rd IJA Divs on Arakan at least probably 2 others that I have tentatively identified and another 1 at magwe all in all pretty happy

Interesting day the high point was the attack of XV Corps across the Chindwin

Japanese 14th Div attacked my Chindits but they walked into a buzzsaw as XV Corps was in range to suopoport.....

May have been an error as PZB says he didnt order them to attack I have occasionally seen units do this and attack sometimes without orders not sure why - hurts me more than him as I would have probably only got 1:1 wiothout it and could have pursued tomorrow cest la vie writing off a JAP Div is always worth it

The main thing I need to achieve is to force PZB to draw in more and more troops to this theatre I dont expect to win the war here but if I can set up the conditions for a decisive blow elsewhere thats good !!!

The retreated 14th IJA Div will be in the open without forts tomorrow a bit predictable but I dont believe in letting a beaten enemy get up off the cnavas every air frame that can fly is going to hit that Div tomorrow and try to bomb it back to the stoneage.

10,000 casualties today another 1,000 tomorrow if mostly kills would be nice.

Heavies are trying to close North Burma Air Fields.

More and more PT Boats and LCT's are operating on the Akyab/Arakan run its a great use for these short range assets.

They are slow but can haul a remarkable amount of stuff

Another 15 Destroyers are about to join my undamaged trio on the Ramree run

when added to the 40+ PT Boats now operational and 30+ subs its pretty dangerous for the IJN to operate along the Arakan coast

Yes, but non decisive for both sides. At this point you should be thinking about flanking it.

Keeping a close eye on tyhe last few attacks on PM if this is really all PZB has there then I may be able to hit it sooner than I thought.

I have 8th Australian Div and the Amercal Div 100% prepped for PM they are currently both en route to Brisbane I could probably rustle up enough sealift to take them plus support units

Andy

Also attacking 55th Mountain Gun Regiment ...
Also attacking 9th Garrison Unit ...
Also attacking 83rd Naval Guard Unit ...

KB is in SEA waters so a smash and grab may be possible if I can get PM and get it up and running that opens up a whole other theatre which PZB would need to respond to

Not to rain on your parade here, but isnt that the attitude that got you into trouble in the lower NEI a couple of months ago? I think slow and methodical is better for you right now. There will be plenty of time for smash and grab when you get past his first perimeter.

Yes but there are a few crucial differences not decided yet but I have options and I need to put pressure on before the real attack goes in

Looking at lots of options right now

Just took a look

East Australia current strength 1,200 strike aircraft, 1,000 Fighters and 100 transport aircraft

Withanother 600 mixed aircraft in North Australia available if required.

Issue is fuel I am a little short even now after the ioperations in the DEI a 250k fuel convoy will arrive at perth in a few days and another 500k one is en route but until they arrive I am probably not going to be able to attack even if I wanted to

If you rush again you are going to let him defeat you in detail again.

It is the pattern of the war so far. There's no reason to expect it will have changed.

Hmmmm not sure I agree with that Nemo been looking at operations in Solomons and NG for a long time which is why I have Divs fully prepped. I was going to wait for my overwhelming carrier advantage but thats a 5 mionths away - what I am contemplating is a non carrier supported invasion

No decision yet I will say this whatever I do it wont be involving my carriers they are safely sitting back training and waiting for unstoppable force.

An attack on PM where I walk into it knowing PZB will get one days free hack at the xAK's where only LR P38's and Beaus are acting as CAP BUT knowing that he cannot sweep may and I only say may at present be a risk I am willing to take.

As I said its ealry days he may have a div there I havent seen yet but until I know a little more I am doing nothing and in any event I need to wait for fuel

12 units at PM with 12,000 men....

More than I expected in units and 193 guns which probably means all the Jap CD guns on map so probably not worth it even with 3 x lvl 9 AF's in range to support

9th Garrison Unit is a Bde sized unit thats low on guns
55th Mountain Gun has 36 guns
83rd NGU - is a large Bn sized unit

Going to keep an eye and see what else is there over the next few weeks - propbably lots of CD guns...

Well, you are free to decide however you wish, of course. On the other hand you said much the same thing when people raised concerns the last time.

If you wait 5 months you can go with land-based aircover AND sea-based aircover and more easily withstand whatever the Japanese send your way. In the long run taking fewer losses will speed up your overall advance immeasurably.... far more than the time lost waiting to gether those forces.

Its pretty simple if PZB had 100+ CD guns at PM then its a non starter as I would need to commit bombardment units which I cannot afford to risk for now so it may be academic all I can do is keep a weather eye on it and see whats there

Yup but other targets are noth that prepped lots to think about if was to go for PM it would need to be either a smash and grab unsupported invasion or a full court supported one

the 1st looks unlikely now and the 2nd needs 5 months until the fleet rebuilds.

I will keep the situation under review and see what kind of casualties I can cause - its likely give the constant attacks that PM is low on supply

Been mulling it over night with my available strength its not on the cards for now I can cover a landing with LBA at Teraopo or Merauke but with only P38's and Beaus I don't think its practicle for now to attack PM.

Maybe if I could afford to concentrate 200 P38's for the Op I would consider it but at present I cannot as they are committed to Burma.

IF I can achieve my goal and secure air superiority over southern Burma which would allow me to pull them back then I may reconsider but for now probably not on.

The situation will remain monitored - I am noticing a withdrawal on the front at the flank on the line protection Japanese held Lashio

Japanese garrisons are heading south on the flank facing 1st Burma Div not sure what this means could be a shortening of his lines ready for a counter attack
