I have changed my strategy on this. I used to have all my wargames all loaded up on my computer. I would basically jump from one to the next until the next shiny toy came out, never giving any one a fair chance. I'm a bit of a collector, even thou that isn't my intention. I've bought every new edition of TOAW but do i play it......nope, all those scenarios seems like a deal to me,bought the matrix edition for the boonie rat scenarios ....started... never played it out. AGEOD games look good, bought wars in america 2 but just couldn't get into it. Time is a factor for me. Just curious how many and what people keep on their hard drives. I play all my fps and rpg on the play station3.
I've limited my self to 4 games loaded at one time.
currently:

Battlefield academy and blitzkrieg France = quick to play and no matter how long your away it's a pick up and play. no manual required.

Advanced Tactics Gold= small learning curve to get started, love the random battles [played civ 2 to death]

Frozen synapse= picked it up on a whim, i usually don't play online, put i'm having loads of fun online with this one,[2 copies for $20 cant beat that with a stick] this and advanced tactics are my flavor of the month right now.

JT campaign series= it's my steel panthers of this decade [steel panthers was loaded up for around 15 years] i always go back to it, sooner or later. wish someone would tell me how to beat that screaming eagle campaign, battle 5 is as far as i get, to depleted to continue.

Just curious is all

Learned my lesson many years ago, it's like having too many books cause you gotta read them all but you know you never will be able to do that. Same with games, too many and you never ever will really appreciate them. So I buy just a few games per year, 1-2 RPG, mostly Indy, 3-4 wargames, mostly small developers/ publishers. And yes they're all dear to me.
ATG, WitE, JTCS... all classics.
And Steel Panthers, would you believe I still remember the sound an enemy shell made when it bounced off my tanks...? (Phew, survived that one!) 15 years ago, blimey. I think my monitor had the size and shape of a small fishbowl LOL

I used to have every game under the sun and play each for five minutes. Now I have about eight installed and play them on a regular basis. I play maybe two RPGs a year and play them thoroughly.

I play maybe two on my 360 at a time. Right now I'm playing Just Cause 2. God, I love that game.

There are a few war games that will pretty much never leave my hard drive:

1) Close Combat 1
2) Tigers on the Prowl 2 and Panthers in the Shadows (HPS)
3) John Tiller Campaign Series (EF/WF2/RS)
4) Planespace: Torment RPG
5) Knights of the Old Republic 1&2 RPGs
6) The Ardennes Offensive by SSG
7) War in the Pacific Admiral Edition 2by3 games
8) War in the East 2by3 games
9) VASL (Java client for playing ASL on-line)

The beauty is that none of these games require a lot of space...

CivII has been on my hard drive on every comp since 1995. Or is it 96? I can't remember anymore. I still play it believe it or not. Ultima 6 also, usually on the same evening as The Witcher 2.

Erm...

ArmA 2 Operation Arrowhead
Battlefield Bad Company 2
Bulletstorm
Metro 2033
Portal 2
Pathologic
The Void
Still Life 2
Minecraft
Trackmania United Forever
Nation Red
Super Meat Boy
Cricket Revolution
Evochron Mercenary
Virtual Skipper 5
AI War - Fleet Command
Archon Classic
Armada 2526
Distant Worlds
Frozen Synapse
Dwarfs!
Sword of the Stars
Worms Reloaded
CM Shock Force
CM Afghanistan
CM Normandy (yeah... I folded.. )
HPS Midway
Advanced Tactics Gold
Battles from the Bulge
Combat Command
Field of Glory
War Between the States
Harpoon Ultimate (CE)
HistWar: Les Grognards
Panzer Command: Ostfront
Jutland (Storm Eagle)
Scourge of War: Gettysburg
Squad Battles: Vietnam
Storm over the Pacific
War in the East
War in the PAcific AE

I've tried the minimalist thing a couple of times, but so much of what I buy these days comes by download and not disk it's just easier to leave it installed until I'm sure I'm unlikely ever to play it again, otherwise I just end up redownloading something I suddenly have an urge to play again. That's especially true with those that come with DRM silly-b*ggers attached, like the CM games (Shock Force in particular has given me mucho grief), Jutland, SoW:Gettysburg etc.

I am currently playing – and thoroughly enjoying:
Combat Command – Matrix Edition

Operation Arrowhead + its companion Reinforcements. Both from the ARMA 11 series.

Games installed that I don’t play.
Computer War in Europe: The developers are constantly improving it which means you cannot play a game!

Battles from the Bulge: A game series with much potential but I don’t enjoy it.

SSG’s Kharkov and Across the Dneper 2: As wargames they are terrific but they are too big and feel I need to put in effort instead of having fun.

Man, I can't believe this topic came out now. Just this past week I was in a funk and couldn't decide what to play. I am at work now, but would guess my game totals to be 80 some odd games. So, I was wondering what to play and then I decided to leave it up to chance. It just so happens that I have a gaming directory broken into 6 sub-directories. They are

Casual
SciFi
RPG
Strategy
Sports
War

I love games in all those categories, just wanted to play something different for a day or two. At this point I assigned a number to each directory and rolled a die. First category to get rolled twice was the one I would play a game from.

Stupid I know, but it worked for me. Random gaming.

Ha, I laugh at myself as I type this,... I am a 48 yo weird-o!

holy Sh*t, looking at some of those lists, damn, maybe i don't have a problem, i was talking about having 12-15 installed at one time. I used to have more games when pc games had more shelf space, i was always a sucker for the bargin bin. Including the PS3 i have around 35 total. Hell, i'm an amateur.

I currently have 28 games installed on my PC, which is roughly half the number I actually own. The others I only install *very* occasionally, and then only if I'm specifically in the mood to play them.

Too many to count and list.

I have massive storage on my computer (about 3 terrabytes plus about 7 more drives I can drop into an adapter and bring online. Mostly filled with movies, but room for every game I own.

As I go into retirement, I think I'll rebuild both computers and start fresh and be selective about what I actually install.

As someone mentioned, it can be such a chore to reinstall a game when it has multiple patches that need to be located and reinstalled as well. The ones with DRM like Jutland and Rise of Flight are really a pain to take off and reinstall and get working again. Currently neither are working for me, but I don't have the time to remove them again, re-download and reinstall to get by their latest DRM modifications. No more such games for me... I'm just going to work on all the ones I have already and actually try and master them!
