(axis) I�ve been wondering for a while now, that what if I start attaching air units to armies, instead of FGK->LF?

I mean, if I attach entire VIII fliegerkorps to lets say, 2nd panzer army, does that mean it wont fly combat sorties for any other armies then?

Anything I should know about this stuff?

nevermind.... it seems it cant be done anyways. only the default air bases can be subordinate to an army...

Yes, but originally they have rather dull air units assigned, recon and such, you could assign more spiffy air units to it. Would be interesting to know what effect that would have. Never dared try myself.

I thought about doing that, too. Then I realized how poor the Air Ratings of the Army Commanders are, and though better of it. For Recon, since the missions are usually between 1-4 planes per mission, the Air Rating isn't too important. However, if you're hoping to scramble a large number of fighters, and/or mass a bunch of bombers, then flying them from a poorly led Army Air Base is probably a bad idea.

That said, I do think that the AABs have their uses. Having them stuffed with your recon air groups lessens the Support requirements of your regular Luftwaffe Bases, allowing them to fly and repair more efficiently.
