I get to enjoy my Father's Day present today.  It's a father - son trip to a local flying school for each of us to take an introductory pilot training flight.

Vive le turn? Vous avez terminé avec le tour, non?

Interestingly, Google Translate has "tour" (French) meaning "turn" (English)....

That sounds like fun, Mike. Just the sort of thing for after you finish the turn.

Wife unit working today until this afternoon. The sauna-like steam and heat have abated now-today and tomorrow are supposed to be quite lovely.

We'll be heading to the inlaws' beachfront condo tomorrow and staying through Monday (July 4). Makes for good people and fireworks watching. They'll be some boating, fishing and scorching of dermis too. Oughta be nice.

Careful, Mike. You will get hooked.

And a well maintained Piper Arrow is only going for 40k +/- these days. Not much more than a little red Porsche.

There wasn't much of a Cinco de Mayo here in Bama land, so I got tagged to do margies for the hood for the 4th. There's this progressive thing where people grill dogs or brats or burgers or something and sometimes you get a beer. So, they all thought, let John hump & schlepp that Mexicano stuff. Okey Dokey. So here's John's Man-up, Margarita recipe.

1 can Minute Maid frozen limeade.
1 can El Jimador Agave
1/2 can Cointreau, Grand Gala, or something like that
2 cans water (absolutely mandatory it is processed through an EU approved filtration system) *1
1 Tbs finely chopped fresh mint
1 Tbs finely chopped fresh cilantro

Makes a half gallon. Shake and serve over ice. Ciao.

[ed] *1, EU approved water filtration system is optional. Most agave cacti in Northern Mexico don't wash their hands, so ... Have always been curious what the EU purity nazis would think about the worm. Woof !!

Hi all,

On Thursday we went to exhibition in our Archaeological museum here:

"Medieval Torture Instruments"

It was terrifying...

I saw a thread on another forum asking whether or not its readers would emigrate (the OP used the 1955 term "defect") to another country if their own country "banned" gaming. Last time I checked, it had over 200 responses.

There should have been one response.

NO. YOU'RE AN IDIOT, WASTING PRECIOUS SPACE ON THE INTERNET WITH STUPID POSTS ON IDIOTIC FORUMS.

And then it should have been locked.

OK, flying is fun!!!

I actually got a bit queasy from air sickness, when I was "trying" to fly.  It was no problem when the instructor had the controls.  I think it was mostly from the disconnect I felt between my brain and what I was trying to do with the controls.  I know time and familiarity will fix that right up.

I forgot to mention my thoughts on my recent Best Picture screenings.  Chicago is a great movie.  Very enjoyable and fun, and Catherine Zeta Jones won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar.    I thought the "puppet" number was awesome.

Million Dollar Baby is easily one of the best movies I've ever seen!  Hillary Swank, Morgan Freeman, and Clint were amazing.  All 3 deserved Best Actor/Actress/Supporting Actor, but Clint didn't win Best Actor.  He did win for Best Director and Producer of Best Picture, so I guess that softened the blow a bit.

Of my recent run, I think MDB is the best I've seen.

Blockbuster now has no more Best Picture winners in stock at the local store that I have not seen.  Time for Netflix or something similar to step in for the next stage.  I've seen 32 of the 83 winners so far, not counting some that I know I've seen parts of on TV as a kid, like "Ben Hur" and "Kramer vs. Kramer".   I want to watch them in their entirety as an adult who can appreciate them.

Mid-morning tithe... And a beautiful sunny morning it is, it is. Just had a Kiwi morning tea of Vegemite, and creamy butter on toast, washed down with a cup of Tomato Soup (yum, yum!). Now I need a turn, so I will go back to the inbox, for about the fiftieth time this morning.

Gotta say, I didn't care for Million Dollar Baby. Sure, the acting is consistently above-par, and Eastwood is a fine director, but the story is as old and tired as Chuck Norris...

The most cliche thing about Chuck Norris? When he round house kicks his critics in the head.

Just got back from seeing "Cars 2" with the young 'uns. Not bad. Dunno if it's as good as the first go around, but enjoyable. My 7 YO son liked it, so Pixar seems to be hitting it out of the park with that demographic, at least.
