Hi all, quote:
ORIGINAL: USS America quote:
ORIGINAL: sprior Extended version of Lord of the Rings on BluRay on my 58" TV. A bit less sad. I saw that was coming out last week. Likely at the top of my Crimbo list. I have the 3 DVD extended edition versions, and love the extra footage. We watched it for Christmas 2009 holidays in consecution... we loved it (we watched originals in the movie theater)... quote:
I was a little disappointed when I first got my Blu-ray player that these DVD's didn't have much of an improvement via the player's "upconversion" like some DVD's have. I can't wait to watch these on Blu-ray. The "upconverting" is just a marketing ploy... it does not serve any purpose except for some very poor TV sets... In essnce the idea behind "upconverting" is that coputer in DVD / BluRay should be better in upconverting 720x480 DVD to 1920x1080 resolution delivered to HD TV via HDMI than HD TV itself (when fed 720x480 DVD and then internally upconverting it to native resolution of 1920x1080)! Since HD TVs usually have much better processing than DVD / BluRay players this is much better option! Thus, if you have decent TV - ALWAYS use the TV to do upconverting! Leo "Apollo11"
