STOP! Don't read unless you have a sense of Humor. The overall air model forces me to suspend my knowledge of history and embrace my sci-fi side. Russian All weather aircraft reign supremo. Axis aircraft are mostly anemic except for the tiny ill produced Finn air force. Only during clear weather does the axis war machine spread fear of flying. But only initially. After the 1st week beatdown, getting it up and flying is easy. Summertime the flying weather is grand. Finding targets is easy peasy. Flying home np. The downside. Axis sharks eat soviet flying piranha. The axis maw is only so big and the piranha are many. Bad weather coming? Put down that umbrella, take off the fur-coat, strap on some goggles and take off on short ride in a I-15. Inclement weather? Gonna be harsh flying from now on. For the axis,. That pesky Finn air force can be smothered if needed. Or left alone in its cage to the north. Global climate disruption and superior aircraft design has made the perfect storm of the Soviet Air Forces. What was once an obstacle to flying, enhances the odds of good things happening. More planes fly, bombs are more accurate, AAA is feeble, axis fighters mostly don't fly, and if they do, well sacrifices must be made. My little I-15 , open cockpit plane, can fly hundreds of miles, in all sorts of inclement weather. Arrive on time with hundreds of other aircraft, and carry out any sort of mission needed by STAVKA. Raining, np just bomb cities with advanced infrared sights. Crater airfields with cluster and air fuel bombs of People's tech. Snow flakes and freezing conditions may impede ground forces, but not planes. Strafe and Bomb with radar guidance and gps tracking. Never get lost on the way to and from the target. Blizzard is happy weather for the soviet piranha . Heck, cook up some pancakes, back in a mad minute. Crater airfields, bomb units then settle down for breakfast, before going on another 20+ missions. If we see 10 axis sharks, salute them and keep flying, its just an attempt to humor Goering. The superior flying skillz of the Red Air force are on parade come rain and snow. Mud, Snow, Blizzard, the three goddess of the Red Air Force. AAA is dangerous? Fires triple the rate. 100's of guns firing at every pass. Lets call it what it is, FFF, Feeble Flak Fire. During "bad" weather, AAA gunners have fogged up un-calibrated optics. Open cockpit planes just turn on the wipers and activate the lazer sighting on top of their flying helmets. Flying during inclement weather is far safer than in clear. Fighters seldom intercept, most pilots heading for the slit trench. Planes sit fat on the fields waiting for love from above. Fighters and bombers parked on lovers lane, erupt in fiery passion as bombs pierce the cold, wet skies. No such thing as ground fog, mist or even artificial smoke. Space: Above and Beyond, meet the east front. The best of both worlds, literally thousands of elite all purpose, all weather, Peoples Air Force. Able to overcome the obstacles of inclement weather and trained for any mission. "It's easy as eatin' a pancake." And that's before Guard status is bestowed. Just throw hundreds of planes into the air, laugh at the feeble AAA fire, knowing deep down, the weather should have stopped you, but your state of mind is in suspended animation. The only hope the axis have is a huge sucking sound of a Black Hole appearing. Yep that's gonna happen. Not a distraction, not a force multiplier that it should be, entertainment is what we have. Its gold. Love it or hate it, its all we have. I apologize to all those gronards, bitching and moaning forced to read my ill fated attempt at humor. Sorry for forcing people to think about what the air facet of the game looks like to me. Denial has not worked. It just prolongs the entertainment. Just like making pancakes, the 1st one is never perfect, It takes a cast iron skillet, heat, butter and patience. Enjoy your pancakes while they are hott. Great game. Could we see some weather vs plane improvements someday?
