Good morning. My son just loaded up IL-Sturmovik on the 360. The start video has a Mustand.

Him: Cool, D-day
Me: How do you know?
Him: It's got D-Day stripes.

How does an 11 year old know about invasion stripes? I didn't at 11.
Warspite1

Morning sprior. You didn't know at 11??? Goodness man, did you not make airfix models?

Of course I did but they were either Battle of Britain colour schemes, tanks or ships.
Warspite1

Happy times! Even though I was not very good at making them.....

Can you recall your very first model? For some reason mine was a JU-87??? No idea why...but I do remember waiting for the wings to dry was boring and I tried attaching to the body somewhat prematurely - whoops

Graf Spee.

Saw Take That and Pet Shop Boys last night. Pet Shop Boys were very good as expected but I must say Take That put on an excellent show - Robbie Williams was superb. Could have done with a little less F-ing from Mr Williams, but I'm sure my girls have heard worse at school!

Would've loved to see the Pet Shop Boys too.

Of course, I would have loved to see Johann Gambolputty-de-von-Ausfern-schplenden-schlitter-crass-cren-bon-fried-digger-dingle-dangle-dongle-dungle-burstein-von- knackerthrasher-applebanger-horowitz-ticolensic-grander-knotty- spelltinkle-grandlich-grumblemeyer-spelter-wasser-kurstlich-himble-eisenbahnwagen-guten-abend-bitte-ein-nürnburger-bratwürstel- gespurten-mitz-weimache-luber-hundsfut-gumeraber-schönendanker- kalbsfleisch-mittleraucher-von-Hautkopft of Ulm even more

Back from a couple days on the lake. Nice little getaway. Hardly got any sleep because of the heat (no good a/c) and fireworks, but still fun.

Squirt gun fights, digging in the sand on the beach, floating in water floats and kid's board games. There was a small local carnival that we went to as well. Corn dogs, cheese curds and lemonade. Some midway activities (different midway, guys ) and rides rounded out the experience. The kids really enjoyed fishing off the end of the dock-pulling in bluegills, pumpkinhead and crappie with waxworms. Son even caught a small largemouth bass. Atta boy.

Life is good, gents...

Right. Forgot to mention that I became an Uncle yesterday evening for the first time! My nephew was born to my BIL and SIL at 7:05pm. Born on the 4th of July. What a cool birthday!

My father and I build the Nieuport 17 as our first model (diorama)... it was 1:72 and I still have it...

After that I (and at the start we) build close to 100 different 1:72 and 1:48 aircraft, 1:400 ships and 1:32 tanks... almost all of them are still with me behind glass and away from dust!

Warspite1

Wow - you still have your old Airfix models? I'm Impressed Leo and a little jealous - I which I had kept the few of mine that were of a decent standard, but they all got broken over time

The first one I ever built myself was a Hurricane, with liberal amounts of glue it was almost indestructable. The toughest model was a Matilda. It died after a banger went off inside it.

Nice one CB - has he been given an appropriate name - you know, like children born on Christmas Day are sometimes called Noel?

Morning gang   Happy Independence Day to the colonials.

When I lived in Scotland my mates always called me a colonial or yank. Sure brings back some fond memories. Never cared much for the yank comment being southern born.

When I lived in Winchester my classmates called me "Yank" till I explained that the Iroquois indian tribes called the English "Yank aise" (kinda of a bastardized French for "Anglais", as they couldn't say the word). So when they called me "Yank", they were really calling me "English". I quickly became "That unruly ex-colonial"!

I would be interested in one, Leo, but not for a few years yet to give the technology time to mature and become more reliable and less expensive.  Similar to the way "hybrid" technology is now becoming more widespread in many vehicles.

Yeah but they still haven't figured how to recycle the extremely toxic batteries (they currently ship them to Mexico where our EPA has nothing to say about it).

I find it facinating that the same people who oppose nuclear power due to the waste problem drive Prius's and have no idea that they are responsible for creating a similar enviromental problem. Until technology improves , and we build a support mechanism to support electric cars/hybrids, I really feel you are truly better off driving the smallest car you can get by with, that's the most fuel effiecient.

Singing the national anthem again tonight. This is a US vs Japan international game however, so we are also singing the Japanese national anthem. In Japanese. With only one rehearsal.

I hope we don't look out on the field and see a bunch of samurai swords coming at us.

Please take piucures! Especially if they draw swords!

The Prius is an example of how "celebrities" can make "normal" people buy bad products. Its selling point is that it's economical and therefore good for your wallet and the environment, but in true fact it uses more fuel than a lot of its gasoline-powered equivalents. However, because it was hoovered up by Hollywood, it must be "good".

Absolutely! Afterall, Leonardo Di Capria can't be wrong now, can he?

I'm sure there will be a video. The question is whether it will be R-rated due to excessive violence.
