Steam, D2D and Gog.com all have summer sales on and I am getting some killer deals on good games. So, where is the Matrixgames summer sale? If you think I am going to pay over $40.00 for tweaked Close Combat games then think again. Ok, I did buy CC:Modern Tactics but that is because it is a major mod and not just some tweaks. CC games I will buy at -50% or better though.

Right now they are having those crazy bundle deals where you can get pretty much all of Paradox Titles for $75 or so and the list price for the total is over $700.

Where at Gilmer?

On Steam, if you like it.

Oh, by the way, don't buy Neverwinter Nights 2 anywhere. Their activation system sucks, if you ask me. Right now it is on sale for 7 dollars, but I'm going round and round on activations for the game because I have downloaded it to 3 computers as I have bought new computers over the years.

Where did I say I don't like them? I am saying they are overpriced for such old games and I would only pay $19.99 max per game in the series. I'm suggesting Matrixgames would sell more if they sold them at a lower price. Sell low, sell lots, is doing wonders for many indie games developers. People have become millionaires overnight selling some little app for iPhone at $1.00 per unit, that's because people see spending $1.00 for an app trivial but if it was $5.00+ they wouldn't buy it at all.

How about Christmas in July sale? I think that if the older more obscure titles were on sale maybe it would raise some interest.

I was looking at Steam at Victoria 2 (not because I was thinking of buying it, just looking through games) and it has DLC to make the UI more "Victorian like" with polished wood graphical improvements to the UI/interface. I mean come on! It was only $1.99 but I am getting pretty cynical about stuff like that that probably just should be offered for free.

As long as people continue falling for that sort of thing, people like Paradox will continue to grunt and strain to put out that kind of "content".

Almost everyone is falling for the DLC craze.
I try my hardest to wait until Complete or Game of the Year editions of games so that I can get all of the extra content at once for a discounted price. But even I have fallen for the DLC a few times.
When Steam has it's summer sale I bought the Ikko Ikki clan pack for Shogun 2 for $0.99
Sadly I have fallen prey to the ills of DLC. But sometimes it is just too tempting.

Thank God I was in Europe at the time of their summer sale or otherwise I too might have fallen foul of the DLC craze.....
