You mean the Maquis

I cannot recall if the Norwegian resistance had a name - probably did - but there was certainly resistance activity of varying degrees - ranging from attacks on the German military to civil disobedience.

The Germans hoped for a peaceful occupation, but the sinking of the two coastal battleships off Narvik with heavy loss of life, the subsequent bombing of towns and cities, the imposition by the Germans of the unpopular Vidkun Quisling as head of the government, the fact that King Haakon was able to set up a Government in Exile abroad - all meant that that hope was soon dashed.

Don't think they had a specific name... BTW, the Maquis wasn't the name of the French Resistance.

Norway had an effective resistance. It helped the British SOE to sink the ferry carrying 'heavy water'. They also relayed the passage of the Bismarck and Prinz Eugen through the Skagerrak on their way out into the Atlantic.

See here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norwegian_resistance_movement

check the links at the end of the article.

Back home the Norwegian Resistance had several names.
The most used names were;
-"gutta på skauen" meaning "the boys in the woods", this was a sort of overall name for all resistance members
-"Shetlandsgjengen" or "The Shetlands Gang" were the guys that would ship operatives into/out of Norway
-"Grenselosene" or "The border Guides" were the guys that would help people get across the Swedish border

By -44 and -45, in terms of % of the population participating/aiding the resistance, was higher in Norway than in any other nazi-occupied nation.
Also a "fun fact", for those visiting the Imperial War Museum in London, you will see a drop tank, which was donated by the small local museum in the village (7k inhabitants) where I live :)

The Norwegian military (armed) restance, under the leadership of Jens Christian Hauge, was called MILORG. No real guerilla operations until late 1944 and 1945. There was also a civilian (unarmed) resistance movement, know as "Hjemmefronten" (The Home Front).

The communists also operated Soviet supported partisans in Northern Norway, as well as an early sabotage group, The Oswald gang, in Oslo.
