I, for one, would like to go back to the old way where, during the Orders Phase there were no clouds depicted on the map. I've missed TF's, enemy base symbols and it defeats the purpose of having the exclamation points on bases low in supply if you can't see it. I was fine just looking at the top of the page to see what the general weather was supposed to be. So far this is the only new feature I don't like.
Any thoughts?

Greg

This is a feature you can disable/enable pressing F7.

I prefer the original way. Clouds during game play, off during planning.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I agree except I don't want to stop MichaelM (et al) from doing all the great work he is doing. For example: The load tenders button-Brilliant! Just one click and all my tenders are loaded instead of a click fest to do so.

Wow boys, this is the first time i hear about an optional feature that someone don’t want at all.
If you don’t want it deselect it, so simple.

Well I'll tell you one I don't like - the ability to now borrow aircraft from other nations. 99.99% of players will think it is great but to me it invalidates the entire Allied aircraft production concept and just rewards poor play. But as I'm the 0.01% of that contrary view I haven't raised it before.

I doubt michaelm is gonna be phased by a couple of opinions..

I'm sure you are right, but why chance it? There has been no shortage of thin skinned people on this forum. How many flame wars have we seen over the Zero bonus or respawn?
I dig all the new chrome and when it can be turned off at MY discretion then all the better.

It is not so simple. If you turn them off, they are off for both replay and planning. I also would like them back the way they started, on during replay and off during planning.

I can compromise by defaulting the clouds to OFF during orders. Can still be toggled on/off (previously toggling during orders did not redraw the clouds which is really the issue here) during the orders.

The last setting will be used during turn resolution. It will be solely up to the player to turn them ON during the resolution, if they were OFF in orders.

I don't like that - the way it is now in the Beta is fine.

Why not introduce a new command line switch?
Why not introduce a new switch on preferences screen?

Either way everyone could have what he prefers.

It WAS there in the preferance screen, and even when "on", it was defaulted "off" during planning stages..That is what we wish to see it returned to..

I meant 1 switch for orders phase and 1 switch for turn resolution.

All this over clouds?! #$%@ Tell me if two DD is better than one when escorting crippled ships to the yards to prevent floatation damage from sinking my BB. Just a noob chime in. No offense. If you put clouds up all the time I would lose some my favorite basket weaving nations forever.
