What do you have in the Lib folder ? you should have 3 files ... hsqldb.java, jcommon-1.0.14.java and jfreechart-1.0.11.java.

Also from looking at your previous screen shot I'd do 2 things.
1. Install Tracker in it's own location away from your witp-ae install. If you want it with matrix games - do it as c:\matrixgames\Tracker
2. Delete all the trackerdb.* files

Try again.

I deleted Tracker and re-installed in its own folder. The three files are in the lib folder. Now, when I run Tracker I get this:

Did you copy the beta DLL over from the beta thread? It looks to me like it didn't read in any ships, which makes me suspect that you're using the wrong DLL.

Thanks for the suggestion michaelm.

I did both of the actions below but still no luck. Same message.

Replaced .dll file with the one from post #2552.

Installed the X86_redist.exe updates listed on post #2517.

Would you have any more suggestions?

Thanks,

Carl

The same problem. Error occurs when trying to load next turn.
Tried to replace pwsdll.dll from last beta (1108p4) - no result.

You have to use the generic pwsdll.dll that michaelm posted. Once I copied that into the tracker file, it worked for me. In addition, I found that if I posted the error messages, Floyd and Damien were very responsive on identifying my mistakes and pointing me in the right direction. Tracker works like a charm now.

Just starting a new PBEM, and..

The same thing happens with a 100% fresh tracker install as well as with the copied one I only removed the database files and adjusted properties file.

Oddly enough the original tracker still works, loads up the tables(all 210 turns) just fine.

EDIT: game version is the latest beta.

You probably read in a turn with the wrong DLL.

What is the error message? If it's something looking like any of khyberbill's messages above, it's likely that the DLL used is the cause.

I have basically dropped using the Intelligence Display and rely on Tracker. I can't seem to find out how to see what ships are due for withdrawal as you can for air grops and LCUs. Is there a way to look at this in Tracker?

Also, I haven't noticed where the anouncement of losing points is happening because of not withdrawwing a ship on time. Is it there and I just am missing it?

I can't reproduce it right now becase deleted Tracker DB and started from current turn.

Quick question on a problem I had. I had been playing a save game started under the original release but patched to the last official update & using 1.7 on it. I then installed the last beta from a week or so ago & played a few turns w/ that savegame under the beta. I then tried to load a turn into 1.7 from that updated beta savegame but it got some kind of error when trying to do the compare bases part of the load sequence but it continued to go through the rest of the process but when it was done nothing that had any link to base info was there. Is my problem the fact my beta save game w/ the 1.7 version doesn't work due to all the changes made in the beta versions from the last official patch. Does 1.8 work w/ the beta versions? (I assume it does) If I tried to load this savegame into 1.8 & start a new view of the game so far, will it work fine?

Here is some advice on this to minimise the pain. Floyd and I are not supporting the Beta until it becomes final - having said that I have had no trouble on either XPSP3 or Win7x86.

  • Don't expect to go from a save done under 6i to a beta_xx save and expect there not to be problems.
  • Don't expect the dll to work correctly unless you have the current Microsoft C++ 2005/2008/2010 x86
(I only have the 2008 and 2010)Redistributable installed. Without this, although Micheal has said the generic dll will work - I'd be patching windows!
This might require you to go looking as an XP user for the correct updates. Win7 users have an easier upgrade with a working Windows update.
  • Use the correct dll with the save version. A save done under an old dll will obviously cause problems with a different dll. The save file format has changed.
  • x64 bit users should still have the x86 C++ Redist. installed & patched.
  • Lose your data and start afresh if you are toying with the beta - then also make allowances for Tracker - give it a fresh start too.

We'll still answer your questions but please also if you're having problems configure a new tracker DB with a new save under the latest beta with the correct dll and Latest installed C++ redist and you're still having issues -- I'll give some assistance. Otherwise it is just too damned complicated.

Cheers - I'm finally on vacation for 6 weeks !!!

Looks like we never implemented ship withdrawal. I can try to get that in.

And we also don't announce (via an alert) that PP were lost for not withdrawing a ship. I'm not sure what the trigger is in the save file to determine that...

Alerts are generated by the program after loading 2 or more turns ... load a second turn and you'll get some alerts. Any reason you're using 1.7?

Yep - no SigInt (signal intelligence) to load for the first turn of the game cause there is no combat round.

    Hi,

    Two small glitches :

    - in the AirGroup and Pilot module, the number of missions apparently tops at 127. Past this point, the number of missions flown remain 127 (256/2-1 : could it be stored in a signed byte-sized variable?)
    - in the Leader module, on the Japanese side, the PP cost for collaborators (Chinese, Indian or Thai) is negative. In the game, those correspond to PP values close to 250 (unsigned read as signed, I presume)

    And a question :

    - what does the Eng columns of the LCU module mean? I thought it should be the number of engineers, but this is not the case (for instance, lots of construction companies, or infantry division with "in house" engineers count as zero).

    Thanks in advance,
    Francois

Yes, you got it - it's stored in a signed byte, so maximum of 127.

Yes, again, PP is a signed byte. I'm surprised nobody noticed this before.

It is the number of engineers at the base + (number of engineer vehicles * 5)

    Hi Floyd,

    quote:

This is what you get in the base screen, and the value is consistent with the one you have in the game. In the LCU screen, Tracker only seems to calculate the second half of the formula (engineer vehicles times 5).

Yeah, I found the problem. I was calling the right function for LCU's, but passing the wrong parameter. It'll be fixed.
