Hi,

Apologies if this is the wrong location; however, I could not seem to find a direct sales contact address hence posting here.

I am about to place an order for the following games:

GG's War In The East
Panzer Corps
FOF: American Civil War

Basically I plan to order the hardcopies (and I think all come with direct download as standard). What I need to know is:

-Can I run all of these products on two different PC's without license or DRM issues? As in my home desktop and when I am travelling (frequently) on my work laptop? I have owned the JTCS and previous Talonsoft originals for years and experienced no problems in doing the above and want to ensure I can have my fun at home and on the road.

-I take it in the above scenario I can run the games without the discs?

-While I am aware that everything runs fine under XP will I have any issues running the above under WIN 7 as long as I choose an area other than C:\Program Files?

Cheers in advance for any enlightenment. It is really important to me that my games offer the flexibility for the scenario detailed above and need this clarified before I plunk down a rather large chunk of change (also contemplating the WiP: Admirals Edition but that may be just one game too many to deal with).

It was always my understanding that you could install on your laptop and home computer. There is no other DRM than the license number.

Of course someone may step in and correct me.

I have always installed one copy my desktop and another on my laptop. Works just fine.

The games you are buying are great.

Yes you can install on both PC's assuming they are for personal use. The games run under Win 7 as much as any game can. There are always PC specific issues related to hardware configurations that migth stop any game working but for most people it is not an issue so you should be fine.

Regarding FoF I remember that some people could not run it under Win 7.

-I take it in the above scenario I can run the games without the discs? yep - you get the download as well as the disks...so can install immediately whilst waiting on your disks to arrive. Should you choose to install from disk, the disk is never required in the drive

And all of those games are great games...though if it wasn't for the resolution limit (which I'm about to check to see if I can change!), I would probably still play it...but it's a wee bit ugly on my 22" screen tbh...but gameplay is amazing!

Hey wow thanks to the poster above me for providing the links for a fabulous Coach bag to carry my manuals in!

On a more serious note thanks again for the responses and looking forward to enjoying the games. As mentioned earlier I have enjoyed Mr Tillers work (EF/WF/RS and more recently the JTCS compilation) since they were first introduced way back when and still have the original discs. They define value for entertainment in spades.

I still find it curious that wargames like these (and the ones I am purchasing) with the infinite complexity, challenge, and replayability coupled with running on the most modest of hardware platforms do not have wider modern appeal. Perhaps it's down to not being brought up playing the AH/SPI/SSI/etc legends of hex gaming-Advanced Squad Leader, Flattop and the like? Or a modern preference for flash over substance?

It is funny when sitting on a long haul flight and suddenly comparing the game you are playing with the total stranger's parked next to you though as they try to grind through level after level of some mindless shooter or RTS clicky festival. Of course the first comment after seeing the JTCS in action is "oh dear those graphics suck"....this most recently from a guy older than myself! To be fair he was struggling with CIV IV

Anyway cannot wait to get the games.

In today's world we get inundated with data and mental challenges 24/7 so I can fully understand someone prefering to play a relaxing, mindless and fluffy game over a brain-burning wargame. or a FPS as a sort of stress-reliever.

That said, the main reason pc wargaming is not overly popular is just that it got (mostly) stuck in boardgame conventions of the seventies, while board and tabletop wargaming have evolved a lot more. Truely innovative pc wargames are rare, and even when they are released, don't enjoy the popularity they really deserve - witness Panther Games' Battles from the Bulge.

They don't have 150M$ marketing budgets. Then you have makers of short FPS games doing black marketing propaganda about how other game genres are outdated and existed only because the technology didn't allow making short cinematic corridor shooters.

FOF ran fine for me under Win 7 64 Bit... All are great games..

Don't have FoF nor win7 but over years of Win9x-vista and alot of games some old, if a game doesn't work under normal conditions, sometimes need tweak some settings, use compatibility mode, etc

Of course for some, it could be a graphics card

I miss my starflight but at a point its graphics simply weren't supported by graphic cards... many are just not backward compatible with the graphics of years ago..

But one can sometimes tweak settings and get games to play..

Got my copy of FoF and just starting to get the gist of it. Looks good so far. I ordered that one first as the Civil War period-while historically interesting and I am fairly well read on the subject-never caught my eye from a gaming standpoint until now.

This sucker is DEEP!
