Hi guys
I have found a way to suffer least lose to win battle between CVs.
Just unload all no fighter group and load with fighter, and set all fighter to cap 100%. Then you can shot down most of enemy's plane without hitted. It will take them month to refit the group. And your carrier can do anything in these months.

Interesting approach, but not sure I would try it, especially as the IJN. First, it doesn't take a month to refit CV airgroups, usually a couple days in port will do. Granted, they might not have the experience level from before, but they can still put to sea with enough to cause harm, particularly if they are the US. Even if that wasn't the case, in a pinch your opponent could load additional groups on, the IJN has plenty of Zero's and Val's available to do this, and the US more Dauntlesses than you can use after 8/42.

Second, even with large amounts of cap, there is a good chance they could get a hit or two on your ship, enough to have it withdrawn for repairs for a period of time, probably longer than it would take your opponent to refit the airgroup.

I think that strategy would work if you are the Allies, and if it's later in the war when you have plenty of flak protection and maybe Corsairs based on your CV's.

As the IJN, I would never pursue that strategy. As the IJN, you have to take out US CV's early, even if it's a one-for-one exchange. If no carriers are in the water from either side, that is an advantage for the defense, who still has LBA. Thus, the IJN has to strike US carriers no matter what the costs.

I think anyone would gladly trade 100 or more planes to get a CV to the bottom.

IIRC this was done with the Hornet (??) which had two fighter groups instead of two SBD groups. This would work better using CVLs as CAP carriers. And use them in conjunction with the CVs.

I added a second VF Group to ENTERPRISE in one mission so that she had 2 Fighter Groups: one for CAP and one to escort or LR/CAP. Worked great until I was jumped by 2 CV and 1 CVL...

GLUB GLUB GLUB as my daughter said, watching intently...

For my experince it will take 60 or 100days to rebuild the airgroup of CV and for Nipon there are many land base Zero group.one or two 1000lb bomb can't let a CV disabled. In the first day there will be one or two CV hit.But remenber Nipon has many CVs and CVLs
:D.I have practis this way many ways in first day I always can shot 100~150 plane down and 1-2 CV light wounded. And second day 50~70 plane down no ship hit.My aircraft lose is about 10~20Fighter.And almost all enemy dive and torpidor bomb lost(remain 1~6 per group). And they have to go back to pearlharbor to rpair for about 60-100days.and in these day I have one time sunk about 40 APs,AKs,TKs by CV nobody can hurt me.And I sunk another two lonely CV of Allies.

In this way NEVER attack enemy CV just protect your self(at least in th first day's combat)or you will lose many bombers.Your purpose is to drive them to Pearlharbor or Tokyo not sink them.
