@Perturabo

All joking from my last post aside, if you are in my age group - mid-thirties- this is exactly what you can expect. I got out of a very long relationship six years ago. My discovery upon entering the dating pool once again is that a good majority of women ony wish to be spoiled wrotten for a few weeks, and then move on to the next guy that is willing to do the same thing. There is no good place to meet a good woman. Bars, churches, grocery markets....it's all chance. I am beginning to think that finding a woman with her head and her heart in the right place is about as easy as finding the Grail (if only I could find Castle Anthrax in my pursuit!!). Serial monogamy is the way of things now in our instant gratification, all for me, society.

My suggestion is to forget about women. Get a good dog, and a few more Matrix games.

MJ

We adjusted our expectations downwards. If you're consistently with a new partner or can't get one, you're expecting too much.

Sometimes you have to be patient. I got lucky 2nd time around to the woman who's perfect: for me at least. married 12 years now ( i think).

She said it was love at 1st sight but she wasn't wearing her glasses and her eyesight is rubbish, but I'm not complaining.

A woman that tolerates gaming is a good find.

I got mine some 20 years ago when I was gaming in the kitchen on an apple II+. I play my games and she does her own thing reading books.

Keeps us out of each others way

Its my birthday today.

Last night my wife baked a cake and today I brought it to the office.

I open the container in front of a small group – and the cake is in the shape of a big heart !

You may not want to show this to your partner!

Ketza, "keeps us out of each others way", is the true reason for my long marriage.

I met mine on Ibiza - which is a Spanish "party" island - in a sports club - she had already met up with 2 other Flemish girls when one of them spotted my beach towel which clearly advertized a local magazine. As it's always a pleasure being able to speak your own lingo when abroad we all got talking. Back home one birthday party later we hooked up. That was 20 years ago or so. From the start she was very much into gaming - we played Doom co-op and even light wargames like Battle Cry, later she became a very heavy Euro gamer and we have a weekly boardgame group evening.

We both had had some semi-long relationships before so I guess it's just plain luck that we met, that it clicked and that it continued to work. I've got 2 friends who after a divorce met other women through *paying* dating services - the paying part being important because it filters out the losers and those just looking for a fling.

Greetz,

Eddy Sterckx

That is actually what happened to me. Someone who had been STRICTLY a friend years smiled so brightly one day that my heart did melt.

How old are you and your friends - if you don't mind me asking?

27.
Warspite1

Well then don't worry about it - 27? - you have plenty of time.

Thank-you planner 3

I'm not sure I understand what you mean. I know that Horatio Nelson originally wanted the word confides - but this was, with his permission - changed for expects as confides would have to be spelt out letter by letter. Is that what you are referring to?

Last night as I was driving North from Singapore up to Bangkok in "Storm over the Pacific" my wife, who was sleeping beside me, woke up, looked at me moving my infantry up in tandom with carrier strikes, told me that's a boring game and went back to sleep.

We wargamers are a weird bunch, there is no denying that.

That's when you say, are you feeling frisky or should I keep playing my game?

Warspite: Nelson hoisted the "Zebra" pennant (signal flag) which meant " England expects every man.........etc." from his flagship as the conflict at Trafalgar commenced. Hence the quotation.

Just trivia info.
