gonna do it anyway....but really what good is a mod if you can't share it?

Pretty much a straight port of TLD to LSA engine.

This will allow all "WN" units to become static, thus freeing up a huge number of new BGs to create. Also create new static BGs on beachside maps that currently don't have one.

Can also LOCK all static BG guns into their correct bunkers....hell, could even lock MGs and mortars into Tobruks.

Further down the road will add new stuff like captured French half-tracks, Marder I and others..

If Matrix will not allow distribution I will respect that..

Just thought of a brilliant solution!

Well, more of a plus for me as I have horribly slow internet (1Mbps), and it would take me all day to upload such a monster...

So I'll just mod and create a package of the data and graphic files, and require the end-user to copy his TLD maps over.

This way, you would have to own both TLD and LSA to play it, thus avoiding any problems with Matrix..

Only downside is there won't be a simple ModSwap plugin...but I'll think of something...

ETA is early August..

Thanks for the interest guys...

After turning all WN and Ost Battalion into static BGs and consolidating FJ Regiment 6 into one unit (it will have the strength of 3 battalions instead of two seperate) I've freed up 18 slots for new BGs.

EDIT: Is there any limit to the formations.txt file?

To add for the Germans:
731 Rgt./711 ID
744 Rgt./711 ID
Sturm-Bataillon AOK 7
SS-Aufklärungs-Abteilung 17
858 Rgt./346 ID

And for the Allies:
22nd Armoured Brigade (7th Armoured Div/June 7)
131st Infantry Brigade (7th Armoured Div/June 8)
66th Armored Regiment (US 2nd Armored Div/June 9)
41st Armored Infantry Regiment (US 2nd Armored Div/June 9)
6th Airlanding Brigade (6th AB/most June 6; reinforced June 7)
359th Infantry Regiment (part of 90th ID, subordinated to 4th Division at Utah)
327th Glider Infantry Regiment (part of 101st AB, subordinated to 4th Division at Utah)
152nd Infantry Brigade (51st Highland Div/June 8)
153rd Infantry Brigade (51st Highland Div/June 7)
154th Infantry Brigade (51st Highland Div/June 10)
9th Infantry Regiment (US 2nd Infantry/June 7)
23rd Infantry Regiment (US 2nd Infantry/June 7)

Sounds good TAIL_GUNNER!

Also good solution to save upload/download bandwidth and give Matrix some protection.

One thing to keep in mind for later is that some of the weapon and element calculations were adjusted between TLD and LSA in the exe thus the TLD data may or may not work as expected/the same in LSA.

I do not see any problem and I have asked before these type of questions. If you import TLD stuff to LSA, the people should buy TLD if they want play your mod because they would need the TLD maps. As you can see the answer to your problem was easy.;)

Well my earlier estimate of early August release might've been a bit presumptuous...

It seems the 2, 3, and 4 slots in LSA weapons.txt are now hard-coded...guess I'll have to add these to the old TLD weapons.txt and modify the teams and vehicles accordingly...

Also realized today I'm gonna have to make a bunch of unit icons for the strategic map.....I figured the program made these for you...

Not to mention some new unit badges.....geesh.

Status update:

After tons of graphic manipulation, finally got the mod to boot in the LSA engine.
Scenario Editor works correctly and shows all Normandy maps in correct locations.

Was originally gonna do a 5-day campaign, but after some thought, I think I'll stick with the original 4-day campaign. Not sure how many strategic turns per day yet...probably will do 5 ala LSA..

New revisied BG list: (Axis denoted with '*')

No, at least not in the 1.00 version..

If I were to do it, I'd only do it for the Allies...to reflect the higher number of men per squad versus the Germans...

By the way...anyone know what this font is called?

It might be the safest to use the LSA data in those two files.

Unfortunately I do not how exactly the formulas where changed, the only way to tell might be to compare the same weapons and or elements from TLD and LSA to see how/if the data changed....

Elements.txt is easy to swap.....weapons.txt not so much..

Just compared M2 60mm Mortar in both weapons.txt files...and indeed there have been changes to the LSA data mostly dealing with blast radius and such..

Unfortunately these files are as different as night and day between the two versions....switching to LSA weapons.txt would add much suffering and gnashing of the teeths..

So, I'll replace values on a case-by-case basis....I know mortars have been a contentious issue so I'll definitely swap all those out..

Thanks for the heads up.

Thanks very much Oddball....I appreciate it!

Still crackin' along....bgroups.txt is done (if I could only find the names of the 346. Inf. Div. regimental commanders) and got some new guns to show off.

Want to also add an R35 turret Tobruk....but not yet sure if or how that's gonna work..

Well thanks man, but I suppose I should divulge that the IG was ripped straight outta CC3...well, actually the old CC3 demo I found still online as my original copy of CC3 is long, long gone...

The two KwK's I chopped up from a model on Google Sketch....I really couldn't draw anything from scratch if my life depended on it..

They look kinda small to me though....here's a PaK38 from TLD for comparison....what do you think?

Thanks Amgot. Here's hoping so!

When I first started this, I thought I'd just do a straight port...but it's morphing into something else..

The changes between TLD and LSA seemed minor to me at first...but really digging in under the hood has shown how vastly enhanced the LSA engine is over TLD.

For example, I've spent the last two days researching the 4th Cavalry Group at Utah and also when the 'D' Coy (Stuarts) of the various independent US Tank Battalions arrived. I've learned that some of the 4th Cavalry units were to plow ahead and link-up with the 82nd Airborne as quickly as possible. With the LSA engine, I can simulate the arrival of these units by adding them to the Force Pools of the Airborne units....and they will become usable to the para-troops only IF the 82nd can trace supply to a major supply source. Same with the light tanks, which can be added to their respective force pools during the time they historically arrived.

How freaking cool is that?

It's great isn't it.

The original plan was to back port all those features to tLD and WaR.

But this can be achieved but updating tLD and WaR as mods to LSA.

It is pretty cool..if I ever get done with this I'm a gonna give classic CC5 a make-over too....

Noticed today though there's no WN62 in TLD! Fox Green map just gets kind of cut off between it and Easy Red....
WN62 was a major killing ground for the Germans....kinda bummed it's not in the game..

I'm sure I'll get over it though..

So I'm assuming that the upgrades won't be back ported to tLD or WaR?
Sucks cause it might be fun to blow the bridge at Trois Ponts but not to the expense of having to start modding all over to get what I have now into LSA.
I have way too much time in what little I have now, just the thought of starting over is a HUGE Moral killer.

well after three weeks of procrastination....forcing myself to start the gargantuan job of editing fpools.txt.

Anyone know where I can find a blank rectangular graphic used for the STRPATCH?

Finally stopped playing the Bloody Omaha mod long enough to do some force pools editing today. (Great mod by the way! It's also dying for a LSA conversion...)

A little over half-way done with that maddening task. I think for the 1.00 version, I'll do a pretty much straight conversion from the TLD force pools....but later I'll add more variety to the BGs with various reinforcements....for one example how about some 4.2" mortars on the American beaches in later waves.

More guns to show....most of these will be static junk on the landing areas....although quite a few German BGs will use the ex-Soviet IG instead of the 7.5cm leIG18.
Special thanks to Tejszd for letting me use the 75mm and 47mm guns from his France mod. Also gonna use the 75mm graphic for a 7.65cm FK 17(t).

The 45mm ex-Soviet gun is stolen from LSA. Am also gonna rip the SdKfz 10/4 and a Panzer IIIG from it for this mod.
