Aloha, Turk beach dude. How's your vacation?

Having a fantastic time, thanks! Just a few clouds, a single rain shower, and some gusty winds from the fringes of TS Emily so far. Should be about all we get. Can't complain.

Ummm....isn't there something you're leaving out? No, not that! This is a family board! A something...rum...something something update?

Ha! The rum stockpiles on the island are dropping faster than fuel stockpiles burned by Aussie industry.

BTW, the draw is today (i.e. Friday) - the Tottenham is also in that draw I think...

Lazy morning while we wait for our new room to be ready for us.  We added my niece to the trip at the very last minute and tried to upgrade to a larger room when we arrived, but they didn't have one available until today.  Coffee on the patio in the breezes.

Very glad to hear it Mike.

I have really got back into the game. Now I find myself with no turns and the time to play. Most of the time it's turns and no time! I am still looking for JFB advice if anyone has any. I am particularly interested in what ships to build/not build and which airframes to not bother with...

Halt Shinano immediately. I also halt the RO class subs and a bunch of the I-boats until I get Yamato built and can increase naval yards. Then I turn the I-boats back on.

Assuming PDU is on, some thoughts on airframes:

1. Pick one of Thalia or Topsy. Don't build both. Thalia has range, Topsy payload. Pick per poison. I do like the MC-21 Sally for payload reason.

2. I tend to keep both the Betty and Nell lines going. The latter have radar and will be used for long-range ASW primarily. Betties are the primary bombers.

3. Build both Tony's and Tojo's. You'll want more of the latter as they are more flexible with longer range, but the former are excellent at point defense against 4E's.

You don't really have a lot of choices early in the war that aren't pretty obvious. It's later that the options increase dramatically, and I've no experience with which to comment on those.

Ah, good to know that you've come to your senses and are playing the sons of heaven, GBL. Welcome to the club.

Here's my thoughts:

1. I build the RO boats and the I boats until after Yamato is launched. Then I reassess. The 'happy time' for the Japanese submarines will be in the first 6 months of the war. The more submarines I can put into an opportunity for an intercept, the better. I'd rather have the boats out hunting-particularly before 4/42.

2. I build the MC-21 to use up the proprietary engines fo the type. Otherwise, it's like the Martian said re: transport aircraft.

3. I keep both the Betty and Nell lines available, but turn off production after a certain number of airframes fill the pools.

4. Build Oscar I-c aircraft as your primary IJAAF fighter airframe for the first 6 months or so.

In September 1942 (assuming scenario 1), the Tojo IIa becomes available. This will be your frontline standard for at least the next 6 months. Produce the hell out of this one. The IIb and IIc upgrades are marginal.

Oscar IIa / IIb is an OK (but not great) upgrade for the Ic. Keep some units in Oscar IIx airframes, as they are good for long range IJAAF escort.

Tonys do have better armament than Tojo. The later Tonys are potential bomber killers. Their service rating of 3 does make them less practical, but they're a worthwhile build-particularly in areas with rail transport capability. You can set up a 'rotation' to move unit sections into and out of the fray this way, regardless of how many are flight-capable.

For IJAAF fighters, your goal should be to get to the Frank series ASAP. It's hands down the best IJAAF realistic fighter option for you. Research it accordingly.

On the IJNAF side, there's limited choices too. George series is an effective point defense platform. Otherwise the A_M_ series is where you'll be spending most of your production time. A6M5 is an OK fighter, but it's hopelessly outclassed by 1944.

Turn off the gyrocopter factory. Better yet, convert it and its engine factory to something useful.

Turn on B5N2 production at Hiroshima (or is it Nagasaki?) and expand it to at least 25 / month.

Vals are dated. The 'upgrade' for the Val DB sucks-don't upgrade to it. Pull your Judy DB production forward. Beware-the 'first' available Judy is a recon version, not a DB version. Don't make that mistake.

Grace TBs are sublime. Jills (particularly the B model) are a suitable TB until you can get the Grace.

Feel free to PM me. Glad to help a fellow JFB.

Grace is a dive bomber.

Pretty sure that changed from Witp. I remember it as a TB too.

Morning tithe...

Yes the B7A2 aircraft code name 'Grace' was a torpedo bomber, hence the designation B instead of A. But it was also able to perform as a Dive bomber, and for some reason the Dev's have picked that ability only.

Think of it more like putting a literary boot up their arse, as the B7A2 was a good multi-role aircraft, just as good if not better than anything the Allies had.

You Axis fanboy! This is not what I need to be hearing 5 days into a PBEM campaign as the Allies y'know. So he gets a decent torpedo/divebomber and I get the Barracuda...

I'm going to make myself a mod where the Brits get SHARS, TSR2 and Vulcans and the ships are armed with Seacat, Seawolf and Tigerfish torps

What about the Typhoon 2020, as you will need something that has a chance against the A6M2.

Seems like maybe a necessary move by the devs to make its multi-role work in the game. A TB will never dive bomb, but perhaps a DB with a torp will make a torp run.....the weapon controls the mode. Nice!

Malmo - former European Cup finalists and conquerors of Rangers - could have been kinder to Zagreb.

Spurs vs Heart of Midlothian - should be a Tottenham walkover but.............a British derby........not so sure. Fingers crossed.
