Playing as the Allies, what is the use of the Engineer teams? I've just been using them as second-line infantry, but is there something more I could be doing with them? Do they have any special engineering abilities or weapons (I see no indication of this but you never know), or is their name just for flavor?

I believe they have one high explosive device (c4?) which I imagine could do some damage to a Stug that got too close to a window. Not sure about any other uses.

Hi boldrobot,

They really don't engineer anything. The difference between them and other infantry is they have dynamite. When they get in close (Real close! As in Close Combat close)with enemy infantry, chances are you will see a big explosion. That is the dynamite doing lots of damage to the enemy. Same thing as the German pioneers, Panzer pioneers.

They are real good to have in urban environments when you want to dig out tough enemy.

Are the engineers not used to deactivate brigde exsplosives or to detonate bridges?

Anyone can do that. I bet even tanks could to. It's just a matter of capturing all bridge Victory Locations.

Actaully because they don't have a MG or BAR they tend to be able to cross greater distances without one member getting winded. It's useful for those big maps. Also good in cities for ambushing AFV's.

In the new Campaign Mod the engineers will be getting more SMGs and Flamers. but do clear mines in all CC games.
