If Matrix was to put out such a product, would you purchase it?

Status: offline 		Yes, without a doubt. The overwhelming responce for them is still strong. And if feasible it probably would be hard copy as the pay for download issue can be buggy at best not to included huge downloads that would be larger than SPWAW itself. Although both possibilties were brought up a while back when I discussed this with David. I would even vote for a a reprinting of the originals.

Status: offline 		Well Mike, I stuck this out there for all of the people who did not get the chance or missed it, to get these. If enough people will vote on this to show Matrix that their customer's are serious about this, then maybe they Matrix will see the #'s and be influenced by them. It is up to you guys (customer base) to get Matrix to see that you are really interested in this enough for them to make the financial commitment necessary to bring this about. Do it by showing them something tangible, in numbers. :D

How's that for addicted?

I voted I would like to get the rest if it was practical.
I also voted hardcopy.

Everyone that knows me already knows I think a downloadable methodology is not advisable, and not something I would request.

Status: offline 		Only if the debilitating bugs in the megacampaigns are fixed. Said well known bugs include lost leaders, bogus leader combat ratings, and lost conditional victory points during autosaves.

Status: offline 		I would personally like to hear a definitive statement from the powers that be, exactly what has plagued the Mega Campaigns, and what solutions have been created to deal with them.

So much has been said elsewhere, but even I have not necessarily heard it all before.

Status: offline 		The Mega-Campaigns served to get us through some difficult times - we had hopes they would have sold more faster, but they did well, but trickled out at the end.

We currently don't have plans to reprint them. Based on the limited sales at the end, its dobtful we could recoup our investment to make another print run.

We had hoped to have OCmbat Leader available to fill the void sooner rather than later and not have a big a gap between the SP:WaW MCs selling out and CL seeing light but things outside our control have prevented it going as quickly as we hoped.

You will see MC's and in CL they will be much improved, but not for a while!

Status: offline 		Paul I speak only for me, but I say, thanks for SPWaW thanks a million times over.

Thanks for taking a decent stab at the Mega Campaigns.

If they have defects I have not as yet seen them myself. Then again I have not played my Lost Victories as exhaustively.

In the final analysis though, there is only ONE way to play Steel Panthers.

And that is the way I play ASL usually, me as both sides.

Played a Long Campaign recently. The AI is well who cares what others think eh, the AI was friggin stupid. So what. I am not at all surprised that a computer game's AI is dumb. Last I checked there had been no earth shatering revolutions in artificial intellect.

Steel Panthers WaW 7.1 is as close to perfection as I can think of.

I will be thankful for the effort regardless of Matrix's future course.

I still hold out for that day I can upgrade the computer for an unrelated video need. If it happens I will likely try and sneak Combat Leader on the system:)

Status: offline 		I'm personally cursing myself now that I seemed sleeping while the MCs were still in stores. Now is too late. The only hope is the relaunched edition.

And what I hear? After so much talking on re-launching of MCs "Matrix is not currently considering anything in this direction".

Guys, believe me this is not very encouraging for us (customers) to hear it. I really do not understand it, especially if you see customers ready to spend their cash.

I presume that there is no technical problem in relaunching MCs. So why don't you want to do it?

Status: offline 		Its pretty simple, if we can't make back the cost to do it in a reasonable period, then there is not a compelling reason to do something that there is very little potential for return on.

David has said that when Watchtower sells out, we will take another look. But there is still a fair number of Watchtower products to sell.

Right now, while there has been renewed interest in Watchtower and the other MC's. It has not yet become great enough to justify a reissue. If conditions change in the future, as David said we will review the bidding, but right now it just doesn't make financial sense given the demand.

Status: offline 		If anyone is interested I have a brand new LV and Watchtower disk that I cant get to install correctly into my SPWAW vs. 7.1 I'll sell them cheap ( unless Matrix give's refunds or credit ) If Matrix came out with a CD with all of the Mega Campaigns " working Properly " on it I would be interested.

Status: offline 		Just so that it doesn't always have to be Paul saying it (i don't mind taking some flack fer ya Paul:) ).

Install problems are rarely the fault of software, but rather the user having a hardware permutation that could not be forecast. Additionally it can be the user improperly installing the software, again that doesn't make it the fault of the software.

And in response to re releasing the MCs, we have to take a step back and remember, Matrix requires more than 10-20 positive sounding voices on the Forum to confidently produce 100 200 plus cds.

Cds cost money, and they have to KNOW they can sell them in something like a reliable time frame (because bill collectors like to get paid in a timely fashion too hehe).

That is one of the reasons I created this poll, Les. Given enough time (which I don't know how long that would be) there may be enough voices heard that Matrix may well decide to do this. Perhaps if there were several hundred yes I want one's, then maybe it becomes viable.

I don't know what # they actually need to return a fair profit on their investment.

I know someone will cringe when they hear this, but maybe, and it's a big maybe, the concept of pre-ordering a re-release is a possibility. That would give them some sort of idea about how many to create, assuming this ever comes to pass, but then again I don't have to keep Matrix's books and deal with that end.

I'm not sure I am a big fan of the pre-order concept, but failing all other possibilities, at least it might be an option. :)

As for the survey Jim, hmmm, we have had a lot of success with surveys from a loyal dedicated input point of view, but there has yet to ever be a poll that has turned in numbers to give Matrix any cold hard determination of market potential unfortunately.

We loyal forum fans, just don't "do surveys" it seems.

It is obvious the forum has lot of readers, but the readers that don't vote are fairly numerous.

Status: offline 		All valid points, Les. I have gotten so much enjoyment out of these MC's that this was something that I decided to put out to let other people possibly share this experience. I know what it's like to discover something too late (Novastar expansion disks for Steel Panthers, for one).
Whether or not it works, time will tell. As for me, I'll just keep on playing my MC's and waiting to see what happens with CL.

Status: offline 		Sarge, The two disks I'm having problems with may be fine, I don't know, maybe I'm the only person who couldn't get them to work. I have a new computer, Win XP, all of my other SPWAW stuff works, I don't know. I tried the suggestions I got from the Teck forum, except the compleatly reinstall SPWAW one, but I still cant get them to install. Its probably me, all I can do is put in the disk and follow the on screen directions, beond that my computer expertise falls off sharply.
Several months ago there was an appeal to people in this hobbie to support Matrix so I purchased La Grande Army, UV, Lost Victories and Watchtower. UV and Grande Army installed without a hitch, the two I was really interested in were the Mega Campaigns ( the one's I can't seem to install ).
I'm not complaining, I would have sent in a donation to Matrix and not need anything in exchange just to support my hobbie, I mean it.
Getting back to my last post, I would like to have a disk with all of the Mega Campaigns and SPWAW vs. 7.1 all in one and working properly, I'll buy it.
I'll try to post my problem again in the teck forum and see if anyone can help, if not I'll donate the two disks to someone in need. I think I'll through in La Grande Army also, it doesn't seem to be my type of game.

Status: offline 		For what it is worth, I have also had "trouble" with installing Lost Victories on an XP machine (not sure if XP has anythig to do with it though).

Sometimes they are very subtle hassles too.

I have had to install 7.0 then Lost Victories then the 7.1 patch.

I think (but I am not sure) the Lost Victories install routine has trouble with the full 7.1 being installed before the Lost Victories program.

This is not surprising as I have had numerous occasions where older software had trouble with newer software, that did not exist (and therefore could not have been accounted for).

If you do donate the cds though, I hope you locate a person that then goes and does a good deed as well (because if we all did more good deeds more often, the world would be a ****load nicer eh).

Status: offline 		Big Bill, look at the sticky thread I did under SPWAW Megacampaigns titled "Newbies Guide to Megacampaign Installation". I have not heard of anyone that this procedure didn't work for.
Don't give up , they are worth the effort.

When an MC order comes in some Matrix Games person starts up a CD burner and makes a new disc..takes about 5 minutes. While the CD is frying he could print some covers with a colour inkjet printer. When these two tasks are done he'd take a special envelope US mail used to sell..it costs 5$, is made of sturdy cardboard and has worldwide airmail postage included. Put CD+cover in the envelope, write the address and drop in nearest mailbox.

I'd assume there wouldn't be that many orders/day so that you wouldn't need one full-time person to do this.
Or will some existing web store deal prevent this?

Status: offline 		Time is money, precedent, a loss of professional credibility, just plain not the way business is done could all be reasons why Matrix might not seek to undermine their business ethics to make a quick MC disk at random.

Now you know and I know, that anyone could just burn a cd and mail it out. Heck I could be doing it,

The only thing that keeps me from doing that is of course that would make me a lousy @#%$*&@ jerk and no friend of Matrix.

Paul David and all the Matrix mob have worked darn hard to look like a decent business. They have marketed Mega Campaigns and many have bought them.
It would be a gross and unjust act to betray their previous customers by making a shame of their product.

The phrase "you snooze you lose" will just have to be the response for those that missed out on the MC disk.
Matrix might sell a "gold" set some day, or they might not.

I will buy one I suppose if I can. But life will go on if they don't.
Odds are my money is already seeking after the "next thing".

Been hoping against hope I can persuade the family that a video card upgrade is fair to all. In that way Combat Leader is doable.

Given a choice of Combat Leader of a MC gold cd, I am definitely more inclined to want the Combat Leader.
