Im getting a game crash back to the desk top after turn 60 in my short random campaign? I think I had this problem before in PCK but wasn't sure if I got it resolved. Are there known problems of crashing after 60 turns? I listed a copy of my log from tonights crash. Thanks.

We've had one other report of problems with campaign, but it wasn't related to the 60th turn. But the error msg I see in your logfile looks similar. See this thread in tech Support: http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/fb.asp?m=2851829

Are you playing the game with either the beta patches, or any other mods? And if so, did you install any of them AFTER starting the campaign?

Thanks
rick

Rick, no beta patches installed only playing the original version. I was waiting to finish my random campaigns first. I have three started. The only mods I had previously installed are More Random Options mod but I uninstalled it due to my random campaigns not starting up which wasn't the real problem but I had some scene xml map files in my scenario folder that wern't suppose to be there. Im guessing surrendering might let me proceed to the next map from what I read on the other forum link you posted? I really have never had a crash before but I thought maybe reaching turn 60 which is the highest turn I think I've ever reached on one map caused it. I do have a auto save at turn 59 and my own save at turn 60. So should I surrender at turn 59 and see if I can proceed to the next map or is the whole campaign fubar?

You can try surrendering on turn 59 and see what happens, it worked at least once or twice for Chorlto I think and he was able to proceed. But eventually his campaign died again. I know that others have had a campaign game go beyond turn 60, at least I think so. One thing I'm not sure was tested throughly was having multiple random campaigns going at the same time. The naming of the campaigns and scenarios should allow that, but maybe something else is causing a problem.

thanks
rick

I tried surrendering with my auto-save on turn 59 but I still went back to the desktop so that didn't work either.. for me at least. That's OK though, I will play the other two random campaigns in the mean time although I was well into this campaign on my seventh or eigth tour and had grown attached to my infantry war machine. I had this exact problem with PC Kharkov so it's happened before to me.. although I believe the crash then was well below turn 60. Im no computer expert but I think your right about my save game being corrupted though I don't know why? But let me point out that when my random campaign crashed before in PCK I had multiple random campaigns going on there as well so that may be the problem as you suggested. I'll let you know if it occurs again in my other two random campaigns. Thanks for your help Rick.

Is there any chance you can zip up the files for the random campaign that is crashing? I would need the savefiles, the scenario files and the campaign file?

Thanks
Rick

thanks gijas. I won't be able to fix it, but we can use it together with the files from Chorlto to see if we can pin down what's causing it, and maybe get it addressed in a future patch.

We did play through a number of random campaigns during testing. I think junk2drive probably played the most campaigns. But we didn't encounter this. But I don't know that we ever had several running at the same time on one system.

Thanks
rick

Is it by design possible to run multiple random campaigns in paralel?

I thought the file naming system would allow that, but I don't know that it was tested. I'm pretty sure that in both Chorlto and Gijas cases, they were running simultaneous random campaigns, or at least had files for more than one random campaign.

Thanks
rick

Yes,

The campaign file keeps track of all the scenario file names (the id refers to the filename without the .xml) and those names are based on a date-timestamp so should be unique unless two were made in the same microsecond which is unlikely.

Rick, here are my files you requested. I wasn't sure about the scenario files though. I went into my Scenarios folder and found a Scenario xml file that had the same date of the battle I was playing when the crash occured which was 7/16/41. Thanks.

gijas,

Could you zip up all of the file in the scenarios folder that start with the R so that we have all of the random campaign scenarios. We might need to go back to recreate the same conditions.

thanks
rick
