Wife unit 1.0 sent this to me. Said she was 'thinking of me' when she saw it. I informed her that I needed more information. Was she thinking of me WRT the 'expectations', the 'three days' or the smart alecky friend? I informed her that two of those three were gross mischaracterizations of my personage.

Hi Mike, it's been some ugly baseball conditions the past few days. I couldn't believe the intensity of the rain last nite in your old stomping grounds . The O's and Yankees should get the game in today if weather reports are accurate. Go Yankees!!!!

Blasphmer!!!

Actually, I'm in the semi finals of the Matrix Basic fantasy baseball league, so since the Orioles are about 100 games out of contention I'm much more interested in the players on my team.

1 month until the start of the NHL season. Go Canes!

Edit: I was going to go back and remove that heretical graphic you posted in my reply..... then I saw it's actually for the "Wichita yankees".

Here's something that might blow the minds of my American brothers: the campaign "season" for the upcoming parliamentary election in this country will be 20 days long in total.

Not surprising in a Parliamentary type government. Each person elects only one representative , who is in essence a "local" representative. The locals elect their leader who becomes the party leader , and normally , the prime minister. In essence you only get to elect an equivalent to a US representative. Who's generally a person already well known in his district.

In the USA system (and one other country, the Phillipines) there is a myrid of elections. Some of which cover vast distances (such as the entire country). What does one end of the country know about a former governor from the other end of the country? Not much. Hence the need to start the campaign early , in theory to give people the most information from each candidate for each office.

As much as my fellow Americans may suffer from "campaign burnout" , we still manage to elect people that we don't know enough about. I don't see shortening the campaign period as helping this problem.

There are about another dozen people running at this time. And she's not. Maybe you need a little more time.

BTW , wouldn't it just be easier to stay home and not bother voting? With all due respect, I blame most of the bad choices my countrymen have made in selecting their leaders for the past 200 or so years on ignorance. I don't care who you vote for (that's your right and privlage) but as a concerned American I beg of you...study the candidate and choose carefully. The rest of us are counting on you. And too many have died to provide you this opportunity to shape our common destiny.

I'll admit that many election come down to a choice of the lesser of two weasels. But it's still YOUR choice. Choose wisely.
