When I click on a Planet wanting to upgrade my Medium station to a Large one I am not given the option. I can upgrade it to another Medium station but don't see an option to replace it.

The design is valid, right? Not obsolete as this would explain this. The size is not a problem as bases built planet side can be of any size. Consider uploading a save so that we can check it as well.

Hello Tirane. Are you playing the Return of the Shakturi expansion? If so,
check your policy settings. If you have the base building setting automated,
check to see if your planet has enough population to build a large spaceport.
That might be the case. If you are just playing Vanilla DW, then as Data
said, upload a save game file.

Good catch, Ed, I've forgot about that one.

Sorry about wrong terminology. I am talking about replacing a medium spaceport with a large one. Where is the population levels needed found?
FOUND IT, Wow some in options and others in your empire in another section I feel a need to make some changes in user interface. (I think turn based might of been kinder and a more realistic simulation but that discussion should be elsewhere)

Mostly I can only find a way to upgrade the medium spaceport to a newer version of the medium spaceport.

I will try to reset the population settings but admit these things are hard to find for a newwwb.

Yes I am playing ROTS

I don't play that much right now, but as I remember, you can't use the base list to upgrade to a larger starport. You must right-click on the base itself on the main screen, and select retrofit there. That will include all possible options, including larger designs.

He did say in the initial post that he clicks on the planet and the option should be there. But it's a good point, Tirane, did you also try to right-click on the base itself?

Thank you, thank you! I failed to do so from the menus. I thought I had already tried it and failed by clicking the base - maybe it was a population issue - but it is working now IF the base itself is right-clicked.

This bit would be handy in the Smart Upgrading section of the a hypothetical unofficial strategy guide.
