Attached is a spreadsheet depicting all Allied units available in scenario 19 (I used this scenario because it is the most inclusive for Japanese units). I have added the support values of headquarters and engineer units, as this is the most helpful information to me. I have thought about including some more data, like load costs and combat values, but prefer to keep it clean and simple.

Modify, augment, and use as you see fit. I hope this is helpful to you. Personally, I can't seem to get along without it.

I have a spreadsheet for the Japanese, as well, and am in the process of putting it into this same format and will post it in the next day or two after I finish.

I'm just bumping this to keep it currently and easily available to those who might benefit from having this file.

Japanese version only a few hours away ...

And, of course, the fun-filled, action-packed, exciting Japanese OOB file. Enjoy!

Great stuff, P.

Now, I need to add one more column to keep my head straight: which HQ report to which HQ.

And speaking of which: has anyone noticed whether there are any effects from moving one Div (including HQ) further away from it's parent has any effect on the HQ or the units attached? For instance, moving the units/HQ of a Combined Fleet unit to fight in PM, or an 8th Army (Lae, if I'm not confused) to Lunga.

Much appreciated.

However, I think your support listings are misleading. The 6th Seebees may indeed have 20 support points, but it also has 30 Engineer squads and 20 vehicles, for a net support loss of 30. So the unit itself really "has" -30 support. I would prefer a "net support" column detailing the postive or negative contributions each unit (not just engineers/HQs) makes to the over-all support situation.

Seebees eat up support points like flies at a BBQ. I've posted the idea before of not requiring support for vehicles, so that at least if the Seebees aren't doing anything, they can turn the bulldozers off. In the long scenarios I've played this becomes a problem as more and more engineer units arrive in Noumea. Eventually, Noumea runs out of support. (It doesn't do any good to transport those units elsewhere, either, 'cause there isn't the support elsewhere either.) Maybe if I could the unneeded units bak to Pearl.....

Rant over. Great Game. Bring on 2.0!

Chris P.

Glad you like it. The spreadsheet is organized to show which HQs are subordinate to other HQs. The further to the left an HQ is, the higher it is in the COC (For the Japanese, Combined Fleet and 8th Area Army are the highest HQs, and, therefore, are farthest to the left. For the Allies, it's SWPAC and SOPAC). HQs (and subordinate independent units) that report to a higher HQ are indented below the superior HQ (the Americal Div HQ, for example, reports to SOPAC). Those subordinate HQs that have no attached units are listed immediately below the superior HQ to which they report (for example the Japanese Southeast Fleet HQ), while HQs with attached units (like, for example, infantry division HQs) are listed after all subordinate HQs with no attached units and all units attached to the superior HQ (these are the groups of units that are color coded to show that they are part of a single organization, as, for example, with the US First Marine Division).

You're exactly right about the support numbers, but there was no efficient way to reflect surpluses and deficits in the spreadsheet. I assume that the user has full unit information in front of him when consulting the spreadsheet, so that these calculations can be made on the spot to fit the particular situation. This is only an attempt at showing relative values. Of course, you're free to modify this mess to your heart's desire - just note that the more complex you make it, the less useful it is. Believe me, I've tried.

Thanks! This had been badly needed! U2's heart is now filled with fear as he realizes I finally understand who reports to whom!

Thank you for your hard work. This will make life much more difficult for my esteemed Allied opponnets as I can now spend much more time conceving the intricate IJN plans needed for the demise of the USN. This is in a clear and concise format which I can use Immediately. Once again THANKS!!!

Great, thank you. But I cast my vote for two additional columns, one for load capacity required and the other for combat strength.

As I said before, if you want 'em, add 'em.
