As a very active golfer, this just makes my day! hahaha! I love all of your dog stories btw. That picture you put up earlier melts my heart!

You definitely need to see Beaudy on a Golf Course. I've played several holes with him off the leash. Life is different with an independent dog. Mike brought his Basset to the last game. Shaun might bring Molly to the next one. Dogs add an interesting dimension to a fun game among friends. We are all active and avid golfers, but we love to have fun and laugh at ourselves, and include our furry friends in our craziness.

Nola (our dog) isn't as independent, and is rather wild off of the leash. I have not taken the time to work with her... not really interested either.... btw just so you can laugh, she is a beagle/boxer/retriever mix... her father was a Beagle...do the math

Well, took the little Beaudy boy for a walk this morning. Our house is on the back end of Quail Creek Golf Course, so if Beaudy pulls south, what ya gonna do? There's some fringe and some rough and a bunker or two, but oh, no; Beaudy wants the green in regulation. He ain't got no hip sockets and has special food for that and poops out perfectly maki sushi shaped, golfball sized, calling cards. We were on the 5th green and Beaudy says "looks real good right here, Dad." Dropped a load that was seriously puttable. Then he goes to the pin, lifts his leg, and fills the cup. Didn't have any doggy bags with me so me and Beaudy did a Bill Murray off the green and back to the house. I'll always wonder what that first foursome thinks when they get to 5.

Sorry about this, Martin...

There was an atrocious incident in the news in this country a few days ago, where a burglar broke into a house and CUT THE THROAT of the family dog. That's the sort of thing that makes me want to go biblical.

Thanks for the messages guys. John, I sent them the Rainbow Bridge passage that you posted back when I lost my dog it touched me back then and I think it's done the same for my parents. My Dad read it out loud without reading through it first, but couldn't finish it for a couple of minutes. They're upset that it's ended this way, but glad to have some closure on the subject. Deep down my Mum 'knew' that Megan wasn't coming home but Dad thought she would so he's a lot more upset at the moment.

At least she had a good life while it lasted, she spent her last day running and playing, doing the stuff she loved to do. She wasn't a young dog and she was the runt of her litter, I think in some ways my parents are clad that she didn't suffer and it was a quick end.

She's back home now, buried under her favourite tree in the back garden. All of out family pets since I was a young lad have been buried there except Kora (the one I lost a couple of years ago). It'll be interesting to see what future archeologists make of the site....

EDIT: Dad still doesn't know the truth behind her arrival at our home. Back when I still lived there we lost one of our family dogs when he was at sea. I managed to persuade him to let me get another one, a fact he later denied. I went out with Clare to pick up a puppy and Mum came with us, I picked one and Mum chose another. When Dad came home I told him that I'd got them both as they were the last two and I couldn't leave the runt all alone in the world without her sister. I got in trouble for that but he fell in love with the small straggly puppy.
