Just came home from seeing "Drive". What a very, very strange film.

But a good one.

I think. It hasn't sunk in yet.

Weather is surprisingly good here this weekend. New pooch is knackered after a couple of walks today.

Things would be excellent if I hadn't had to get up at 3am to greet DU at front door in best CPO voice.

Was BFU there to be flogged?

That is why I have a gun-cabinet!

Oi! You big brute! Gonna flog the BF unit with the cabinet?

One thing leads to another and the next thing ya know, I'm at Harley Davidson of Daphne. Bought a pristine 2007 Sportster 883. Beautiful metallic blue tank. Perfect bike for what I want. Somehow, that bike was right where it needed to be at just the right time. Wooo hooo !!!

You lucky devil there John, I'm green with envy... As I had an old road bike when I was a young chap, but no as flash as your one new one. I had an old Ariel Arrow Super Sports 250cc bike for years, but unfortunately moved on to cars when I got my first serious GFU (can't remember who's idea that was).

Early morning tithe... still bloody raining, lake filling up on top of snow melt!

We here are still in the mids of "Indian Summer"... temperatures are above +25 degrees Centigrade with blue skies and sun...

Apart from 3-4 days of rain 2 weeks ago the September was beautiful and very very warm... in fact one of the warmest and most beautiful Septembers since the Meteorological observations started here...

BTW, same weather appears to be in UK as well...

Hi all,

quote:

ORIGINAL: Terminus

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

I forwarded this to my wife... she still fondly remembers her childhood dog (he died almost 15 years old 15 years ago)...

Heading up to the in-laws for what should be another lovely day on the lake. 74F and sunny predicted makes it just about perfect.

Go easy on them. Most English can't read or write, and they're sensitive about it...

Yeah, I'm really excited. Had a bike, too, when I was a kid, but it's been over 20 years since I've ridden one. This one's real purty, but not all that flash; it's the smallest one Harley makes and I'm not likely to get a whole bunch of respect at a biker bar. But it is a Harley and it looks like a Harley and sounds like a Harley. It's a good local bike; good for downtown, going to the beach, P'cola, or just riding down along the bay. It's very country here, so a good riding back roads bike is just the ticket.

Been wanting a bike for ages. Been looking for a decent Norton to recondition, but went to Eastern Shore Harley, just to smile and dial and see wha'up, and they had this one bike, and a salesman who should get an award. Like a lot of Harley dealerships, this one was swamped with people wearing MC Club colors, but they were the nicest and most knowledgeable folks one could hope to meet. Those were the guys that convinced me that the Sportster 883 was the perfect bike for me. And that included a couple guys that ride Triumphs. A frikkin epiphany.

[ed] I was totally blown away by the willingness of these people to got to know me and try to steer me to a bike that would work for me.

Could be worse. They could have given up 31 points in the second half, like certain boys of cow, men of moo.

Man in alley way calls out to passerby. "Hey buddy!" [looks furtively up and down the street] "Wanna buy a pie? Special price today..."

When will people learn? When cheeseburgers are outlawed, only outlaws will have cheeseburgers. Uhhmmm...maybe that was guns. Whatever.
