Oh what beautiful day for a drive through northern Minnesota.

It is rather beautiful out there, isn't it? Peak colors here this week. 78F isn't so bad either.

45F here this morning.

Steve Jobs dies yesterday, and now the President is on TV making a jobs speech. Somebody should have told him...

Yeah. Is the President discussing his 'very specific jobs plan' further? Or is he further stimulating the market with his scintillating oratory skill?

If it were Dan Quayle, known for his malapropisms, you could bet what the speech would be.

"Jobs is dead this morning. Steve Jobs. Dead. Jobs aren't dead in this country. The job market. Jobs need reviving. I mean the jobs market. Not Steve Jobs. He's dead. Modern medicine can't bring back Jobs. Well, I mean modern medicine is important for jobs creation in this country, sure. But Jobs is gone. I mean Steve Jobs. And...well...jobs have been outsourced to China, to be sure. So some jobs are gone. Including Steve Jobs."

Gotta love it. A prisoner transport from Washington state to somewhere east make a mandatory rest stop on I-94. One of the prisoners escapes. Across the interstate and into a corn field. How do they apprehend the escapee you ask? Helicpopters? UAV's? Deputies and state troopers through the field? Nope. Farmers and six combines do nicely.

You know, whatever one might think about the evil empires, and I agree with much of it, one cannot but realize that a small group of people transformed the entire landscape of personal communication and access. Steve Jobs was a giant amongst these.

Forget, for just a moment, his personal politics or his corporation's imperitives, and just look at the man. I am very sorry to hear of his passing.

Everybody's human, so of course he had his flaws and quirks as we all do. Overall, a force for the positive. He made a major difference because of his vision of how he wanted things to be, coupled with his abilities to lead an organization to achieve the goals he set. His example is in stark contrast to the many calls today to focus taking what others have.

Hi all,

Oh what beautiful day for a drive through northern Minnesota. The trees are peaking in colors. A Great day. Poker and game feed this evening in a buddies garage this evening. Then Friday & Saturday, the Ice Breaker Division I Hockey, four games in two days. Things are great on the northern plains. Hockey last Friday. This Fighting Sioux beat the Regina Cougars 8-1. Regina, yeah I know. There once was a girl from Regina, who went to Carolina.....

We have the last day of summer here... the Indian summer OK... but still... today was again above +25 degrees Centigrade with sun and blue skies...

Tomorrow there will be rain and temperatures will drop by 15 degrees centigrade... autumn will finally arrive...

Goodbye summer - it was 4-5 months of beautiful and warm weather with just handful of rainy days!

Tell me about it. When your in your forties and you hear about such a "youngun" going way too soon....it can't help but send a chill through you. You start to think......for all i know, "I" only have about 10-15 years left on this planet.

I've never been a big Apple Fan.....and i'll man up and admit that part of it goes beyond Apple's business practices. I'm starting to feel like my dad did at the dawn of the PC revolution........a soon to be obsolecent technical person. I already heard a new term today thx to the news of Steve Job's passing...."The Post PC" era. My dad thinks its coming.....soon everyone will have smart phone/computers and small tablet devices that are self running....self optimizing....self installing.....with exclusive propriatary hardware/software......iLife morphing into iDonthavetoknowtech.

I hope i'm wrong....but that news about HP wanting to get out of the PC business a few weeks back got me to thinking.

anyway RIP Steve. He was instrumental in creating the home computer market in the first place which evolved into our current day PC environment. I guess as with everything else.....something new inevitably will come along to replace that.

Off to watch last season's finale of "Top Shot" on Netflix streaming. Fun show. TONS of 'gun porn'.

iThngs are cute toys but are not business ready, the law firm I work at is trialling them for partners out and about and they are in no way a substitute for the PC laptop. I'm not worried about them. Being a server guy the Cloud had me a little worried but turns out that's just marketing hype for hosted services.

I lost a good friend recently. He was a year older than me. I am 42. I have lost friends/relatives before, but I have never felt the loss as bad as this time. I had been remembering our good times a lot recently. It was the first time he had ever made me cry without laughter being involved. I think reminders of your own mortality come harder at our age...
